Now Hiring for a Security Officer at the Rice Memorial Hospital. As the Safety & Security Officer your main responsibilities would be monitoring and protecting hospital patients, employees, guests, and property, preserving the peace, preventing crime, and detecting and detaining violators of the law.
Summary
Responds to hospital emergency codes
Frequently patrols parking lots and clinics in patrol squad
Performs routine rounding on aggressive flagged patients or those at risk for security intervention
Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
Serves as a liaison for responding law enforcement agencies
- Trainings and certifications provided by the department
- Shift differentials offered for evening, nights, and weekends
- Tenured staff willing and eager to share their knowledge
Schedule
Part-time | 40 hours per two weeks
Every other Wednesday through Sunday | 3:00PM to 11:30PM
Pay and Benefits
- Starting pay begins at $24.21 per hour; exact wage determined by years of related experience.
Pay range: $24.21 - $36.35 per hour

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in security, policing, training in law enforcement or private security preferred.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, and deal effectively with individuals/groups in a health care setting.
- Minimum training and certification up to the level of EMR within 3 months of hire.
- A valid Minnesota driver’s license and a driving record in good standing required.
- Must become certified in the use of the ASP expandable baton, handcuffing, VISTELAR and CEW (conducted energy weapon/Taser), as well as experience the effects of receiving a Taser exposure within 6 months of hire
- A full set of fingerprints in accordance with Minnesota Statute 326.336 is required.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required prior to completion of unit orientation.
To be eligible for the hiring bonus you must be an external candidate who is hired into an eligible full-time or part-time benefited position. Previous CentraCare employees qualify if they have not worked for CentraCare for at least 9 months at the date of hire.
