SWBC is seeking a talented individual who will gain hands-on experience supporting a variety of security, risk, compliance, and resilience initiatives within a converged Security organization. This internship provides exposure to Information Security, Physical Security, and Organizational Resilience programs while working alongside experienced security professionals in a regulated financial services environment. The intern will initially focus on identity and access management, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) activities, and security operations including ticketing queues, monitoring, and compliance support while gaining exposure to other areas of security.

Essential duties include the following:
- Support the SWBC Security team by processing access requests, reviewing queue activities, monitoring dashboards and supporting access governance processes.
- Partner with the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team to support security compliance initiatives, audit activities, evidence collection, control reviews, remediation tracking, and documentation efforts.
- Assist with tickets, project tasks, follow-up actions, and administrative activities related to information security programs and operational processes.
- Collaborate with teams across Governance, Risk and Compliance, Identity & Access Management, Security Operations, Security Architecture, Business Continuity, Privacy, and Security Leadership to support business and security objectives.
- Learn and apply SWBC security policies, standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strict confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Develop foundational knowledge of cybersecurity operations, risk management, compliance frameworks, identity governance, and enterprise security best practices.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related field
- Foundational understanding of cybersecurity, information technology, or risk and compliance concepts.
- Strong interest in cybersecurity, governance, risk management, compliance, audit readiness, and information protection.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Coursework or experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, identity and access management, networking, systems administration, audit, compliance, or risk management.
- Familiarity with workflow and documentation platforms.
- Interest in frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOC, or CIS Controls.
- Interest in pursuing certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity.
