Security Officer

The Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for the patients, visitors, staff and property of Swedish Medical Center.  Due to the continuous public contact of the position the highest level of customer service skills is essential.  Security Officers conduct random patrols of Swedish Medical Center property, respond to and investigate security incidents, report safety hazards, and appropriately document actions and observations made during the shift.  Security Officers respond to alarms and codes by providing traffic control and assisting with safe patient handling.  

Required Qualifications: 

  • Within 90 days of hire: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (Facility Managed) 
  • Within 6 months (180 days) of hire: Successful completion of TASER Training - annual re-certification (Facility Managed)
  • Within 6 months (180 days) of hire: Successful completion of AVADE/HDTS (Healthcare Defensive Tactics System) Training (Facility Managed) 
  • Customer service experience and/or training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree
  • 1 year of related civilian or military security/law enforcement experience
  • Healthcare security experience

Senior Security Officer

The Senior Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for the patients, visitors, staff and property of Swedish Medical Center.  Due to the continuous public contact of the position, the highest level of customer service skills is essential.  Security Officers conduct random patrols of Swedish Medical Center property, respond to and investigate security incidents, report safety hazards, and appropriately document actions and observations made during the shift.  Security Officers respond to alarms and codes by providing traffic control and assisting with safe patient handling.  

Required Qualifications: 

  • Within 90 days of hire: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association 
  • Within 90 days of hire: Successful completion of TASER/AXON Training and Certification annually 
  • Within 90 days of hire: Successful completion of AVADE/HDTS (Healthcare Defensive Tactics System) Training and Certification 
  • 3 years of related civilian or military security/law enforcement experience including at least two years in healthcare security
  • Customer service experience and Hospital Incident Command System training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree, or AA or equivalent preferred
  • Upon request: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) ICS 100.HCB; ICS 200.HCA; and 700.A certification 

Senior Security Officer (Edmonds, WA), Salary Range: Min: $26.30 Max: $40.25

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position.  The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Skills Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • Successful completion of TASER Training (or TASER/AXON Training and Certification for Senior) within 90-180 days of hire; annual recertification
  • Successful completion of AVADE/HDTS (Healthcare Defensive Tactics System) Training and Certification within 90-180 days of hire
  • Customer service experience and/or training
  • 3 years related civilian or military security/law enforcement experience including at least two years in healthcare security (Senior position)
  • Hospital Incident Command System training (Senior position)
  • Associate's Degree or AA (preferred)
