Position Summary:

Assist in providing a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities 

  • Promotes patient safety through awareness of the environment of care and in all actions that involve patient care. Communicates patient safety issues quickly, clearly and effectively with other staff members.
  • Assists in the implementation of security protocols and campus safety. May attend the Nursing report sessions to become more familiar with patient community issues.
  • Makes rounds and inspections at a minimum of one time per hour to check and secure campus buildings, recreation, and other public areas. Makes visual checks “in-person” contact with direct patient care staff throughout work hours. Notifies supervisor of any conditions or incidents affecting staff and / or patient safety
  • Provides intervention and / or crowd control and direction on any situation of concern for the safety and welfare of patients, staff, visitors, and vendors. Is familiar with all emergency and Disaster Preparedness policies.
  • May assist in the investigation of criminal activities involving patients and assists administration with prosecution as appropriate.
  • Completes security logs and incidents report in a timely manner prior to leaving shift.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required
  • CPI, CPR / First Aid.
  • Valid State Drivers License.
  • Peace Officer or professional security experience and / or training preferred.

Skills Required
