A Brief Overview
The SECURITY OFFICER I USAU assists in ensuring medical center safety and security during assigned shifts and during emergency situations. Conducts safety inspections, responds to code designated incidents and other emergencies. The Security Officer writes comprehensive reports detailing causes, actions and responses and is also responsible for investigating crimes and other incidents and submits related reports and recommendations. This person performs dispatch duties when necessary.

What you will do

  • Employees must abide by all the Joint Commission requirements including, but not limited to, sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients’ rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.
  • Conducts safety inspections, responds to code designated incidents and other emergencies. Ensures medical center safety and security during assigned shifts and during emergency situations.
  • Investigates crimes and other incidents and submits related reports and recommendations.
  • Report any observed hazards to the Security Operations Center for response, documentation and escalation.
  • Writes comprehensive reports detailing causes, actions and responses.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
    Successfully pass the following training within the first 30 days of hire
    1. De-escalation
    2. CPI
    3. Patient rights and holding
    4. Psychiatric Security Training
    5. Handcuffing

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity.
  • Ability to generate ideas, consult with departments, and coordinate administrative solutions to alleviate security problems.
  • Ability to observe and recall names, places and incidents, read and understand laws, ordinances, departmental rules and policies.

Licenses and Certifications

  • CADL - California Driver's License - Valid and In State.
  • PPSO - California Proprietary Private Security Officer License required within 90 Days or
  • SGRC - Security Guard Registration Card required within 90 Days

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $28.81 - $32.46 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
