What you will have an opportunity to do:

The Security Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all security operations for a luxury resort, ensuring the safety and security of guests, employees, visitors, facilities, assets, and property. This role requires a highly visible, professional, and service-oriented security leader who can maintain a secure environment while upholding the exceptional standards and guest experience expected at a luxury resort. 

The Security Manager will develop and implement comprehensive security programs, lead the security team, manage emergency response procedures, investigate incidents, and work closely with resort leadership, local law enforcement, emergency services, and other departments. 

Key Responsibilities 

Security Operations 

  • Direct and oversee daily security operations throughout the resort, including guest areas, employee areas, parking facilities, back-of-house operations, and perimeter areas. 

  • Establish and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards consistent with luxury hospitality expectations. 

  • Maintain a highly visible security presence while ensuring interactions with guests are professional, discreet, and service-oriented. 

  • Conduct regular property inspections and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions. 

  • Monitor and manage access-control systems, CCTV, alarms, electronic security systems, keys, and other security equipment. 

  • Coordinate security coverage for VIP guests, high-profile events, weddings, conferences, and other special activities. 

  • Maintain strong relationships with local police, fire departments, emergency medical services, and other public safety agencies. 

Team Leadership & Management 

  • Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate security personnel. 

  • Establish clear performance expectations and maintain high standards of professionalism, appearance, conduct, and customer service. 

  • Conduct regular security briefings, training sessions, drills, and emergency preparedness exercises. 

  • Ensure adequate staffing and coverage across all shifts. 

  • Address employee performance, attendance, and disciplinary matters in accordance with resort policies. 

  • Foster a culture of vigilance, teamwork, accountability, and exceptional guest service. 

Emergency & Incident Management 

  • Develop, maintain, and regularly test emergency response and crisis-management procedures. 

  • Lead the resort's response to incidents including medical emergencies, fires, severe weather, missing people, theft, disturbances, unauthorized access, suspicious activity, and other security concerns. 

  • Ensure all incidents are properly documented, investigated, and reported to resort leadership. 

  • Conduct post-incident reviews and implement appropriate corrective measures. 

  • Participate in the resort's emergency management and business-continuity planning. 

Investigations & Risk Management 

  • Lead investigations involving theft, guest or employee misconduct, property damage, accidents, suspicious activity, and other security-related incidents. 

  • Preserve evidence and maintain accurate investigative records. 

  • Identify emerging risks and develop strategies to reduce exposure to security, safety, and operational threats. 

  • Partner with Human Resources and resort leadership on sensitive employee-related investigations when appropriate. 

  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information. 

Guest & Employee Safety 

  • Protect guest privacy, confidentiality, and personal safety while maintaining a welcoming hospitality environment. 

  • Respond professionally and discreetly to guest concerns and security-related requests. 

  • Support employee safety programs and coordinate with other departments to address workplace hazards and security concerns. 

  • Assist with lost-and-found procedures, access control, parking security, and other property-protection responsibilities. 

Compliance & Administration 

  • Ensure security practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and industry standards. 

  • Maintain required licenses, certifications, records, reports, and documentation. 

  • Manage the security department budget, including staffing, equipment, contracts, and operational expenses. 

  • Evaluate and recommend security technology, vendors, equipment, and services. 

  • Prepare regular security reports and provide management with recommendations regarding trends, incidents, and risk exposure. 

What are we looking for?

  • Security Management, Hospitality Management, Emergency Management, or a related field degree or certification preferred. 

  • 5+ years of progressive security, law enforcement, military, or loss-prevention experience, preferably within a luxury hotel or resort environment. 

  • Previous supervisory or management experience required. 

  • Experience managing security operations in a high-end hospitality, resort, residential, or similarly complex environment strongly preferred. 

  • Strong knowledge of security systems, investigations, emergency response, access control, and risk management. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. 

  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies and high-pressure situations. 

  • Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to interact professionally with VIPs, guests, employees, and senior executives. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and security management/reporting systems. 

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred. 

  • Valid driver's license required. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies. 

Preferred Experience 

  • Luxury hotel or resort security experience. 

  • Law enforcement, military, or executive protection background. 

  • Experience managing security for VIPs, celebrities, executives, or high-profile events. 

  • Experience with CCTV, access control, key-control systems, visitor management, and emergency notification systems. 

  • Familiarity with OSHA, OSHA-related workplace safety practices, fire/life-safety requirements, and applicable local regulations. 

  • Experience developing and conducting emergency drills and crisis-management exercises.

Physical & Work Requirements 

The position requires the ability to walk and patrol extensive areas of the resort, stand for extended periods, respond quickly to emergencies, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. The Security Manager must be available to respond to critical incidents outside normal working hours and participate in an on-call rotation when required. 

Success in This Role 

Success will be measured by maintaining a safe and secure resort environment, developing a highly professional security team, minimizing security risks and losses, maintaining effective emergency preparedness, building strong relationships with public safety partners, and delivering all security services in a manner consistent with the resort's luxury brand and exceptional guest-service standards.
