We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Security Engineer, Spam and Abuse to join our cybersecurity team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating spam and abuse threats across our platforms, helping to protect our users, data, and infrastructure from harmful activities. Your insights and intelligence will play a critical role in shaping our defenses and ensuring the integrity of our systems. 
 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Threat Analysis and Detection: Monitor, detect, and analyze abuse-related threats impacting our platform, leveraging advanced tools and methodologies to identify emerging patterns. 

• Research and Intelligence Gathering: Stay updated on current spam and abuse trends and threat actor tactics. Engage with industry resources, threat intelligence feeds, and open-source intelligence (OSINT) to maintain a current abuse landscape. 

• Data Analysis: Use data analytics to analyze large datasets, identify malicious behaviors, and detect anomalies related to spam and abuse. Conduct investigations to understand threat actors’ methods and improve detection accuracy. 

• Reporting and Documentation: Generate detailed, actionable threat intelligence reports and provide timely, accurate documentation of abuse trends, incidents, and mitigation activities. 

• Collaboration and Cross-Functional Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, security operations, and product development, to implement proactive measures against spam and abuse. Engage with external partners and information-sharing communities to share intelligence and best practices. 

• Tooling and Automation: Develop or recommend automated solutions to detect and mitigate spam and abuse efficiently. Participate in the evaluation and improvement of current tools and recommend new technologies as needed. 

• Threat Hunting: Actively participate in threat hunting exercises focused on abuse patterns and other malicious behaviors.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. 

• 3+ years of experience in a threat intelligence or cybersecurity role with a focus on security hands-on security operations.

• Strong development capabilities (e.g., Python, Go), big data (e.g. BigQuery, colab) and experience working on creating or refining detections at scale.

• Solid knowledge of common red teams or spam and abuse tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). 

• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
