About the role

The position encompasses local sourcing and project management for direct materials within the metal commodity sector. Responsibilities include implementing global strategies at the site level to meet cost targets, ensuring a consistent supply of materials to meet production needs, and managing procurement functions directly associated with the company's requirements for direct materials.

What you will do

  • Work hand in hand with Global Sourcing Managers in the implementation of commodity sourcing strategies.

  • Develop close relationships with stakeholders to meet key business needs and optimize support for implementation of sourcing strategies.  Participate in different BOM Commodity Teams.

  • Negotiation for and procurement of BOM materials including chemicals and implements provisions of Purchase Order and other contracts e.g. Consignment Agreement, VMI, etc.  

  • Preparation of yearly AOP for BOM / BOM Spend Budget

  • Sourcing of and negotiation for raw materials at the most economically favorable terms from both foreign and local suppliers to ensure continuous and timely supply of quality materials needed in sustaining plant operations.

  • Lead cross-functional teams on cost reduction programs

  • Ensure supply continuity during ramp-up’s and manages suppliers during slow down’s; manages phase-in/phase-out plans for material purchases for new products and discontinued products.

  • Facilitates timely arrival of qualification samples and dispatch of communications to and from suppliers for development-related projects

  • Ensure P2P compliance in assigned commodities (BOM) including payment coordination and resolution of any payment concern

  • Vendor performance assessment through quarterly SRS (Supplier Rating System) and review meeting with suppliers

What you will need

  • At least 6 years of experience in the Purchasing Field.

  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.

  • Interested in fast paced environments and market dynamics with good business sense.

  • A knack for negotiating and networking

  • High level of integrity with strong emphasis on making and meeting commitments

  • High sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize to meet required deadlines

  • Demonstrate strong customer-service attitude and experience.

  • Ability to gather and analyze data and work with figures

  • Solid judgments with ability to make good decisions.

  • Strong leadership capabilities

  • Knowledge on SAP would be an added advantage.
