Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity as a Secondary Project Engineer based in Ireland- Dublin.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams, Protection Interface, and Feeder Block Diagrams.
  • Analyse tender documents and technical specifications and prepare Design Intent Documents.
  • Develop Protection Single Line Diagrams showing principles, relays, meters, and Functional Design Standards/Description.
  • Create and review signal lists, trip matrices, logics, and interlocks. Review vendor drawings and documents.
  • Prepare schematics for interface equipment in Control & Relay Panel schemes.
  • Develop and review circuit diagrams for new and existing setups, especially for retrofit projects.
  • Prepare Cable Block Diagrams, relay ordering information, Cable Schedules, and BoQ estimations.
  • Create lists for wiring, termination, and labelling for panel manufacturing.
  • Identify and modify existing drawings using standard markups.
  • knowledge of Primary Equipment, Bay Controller Units, SCADA, RTU, and Teleprotection.
  • Design Low Voltage AC Panels, DC Panels, Auxiliary Transformers, Battery & Charger Sizing, and ACDC Cable Sizing.
  • Expertise in AIS & GIS secondary designs.
  • Work with various departments for design progress and completion.
  • Conduct technical risk and opportunity assessments.
  • Prepare Functional Design Specifications, Technical Specifications, General Arrangement Drawings, Circuit Diagrams, System I/O Schedules, Test Specifications, and O&M literature.
  • Use Hitachi energy configuration tools and software.
  • Set up procedures and reports for Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Provide progress information to Project Managers and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Creates work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility Reviews and approves scope, budget and schedule for assignments and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost. Improves effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions.
  • Reviews, develops and documents quality standards, processes, tools and techniques. Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements. Contributes towards continuous improvements of processes and tools for engineering efficiency.
  • Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed on with potential suppliers. Provides technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepts as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background 

  • 3rd level degree (Hon’s) in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 3 years in Secondary Engineering Design design/project management experience on industrial installation projects
  • Detailed understanding of HV and MV network requirements in industrial settings, with particular emphasis on resilience and studies requirements
  • Strong IT skills
  • A flexible and delivery focused mind-set
  • Excellent communicator/strong interpersonal skills/communicates with impact
  • Excellent record keeper and administration skills
  • Plans and effectively manages projects.
  • Solves problems analytically and acts decisively
