Activities Involved
Able to perform the following activities:
- Review of Tender document, technical specifications and preparation of Design Intent Document
- Preparation of Protection SLD showing principles, relays and meters
- Preparation of Functional Design Standards/Descriptions
- Preparation of Signal list, trip matrix, Logics & Interlocks
- Review of Vendor drawings and documents (technical vetting of Control & Relay panels, Auxiliary System)
- Preparation of schematic diagrams for the interface’s equipment in Control & Relay Panel scheme thus providing completeness
- Preparation of relay ordering information.
- Preparation of circuit diagrams – New & Existing Set-up (applicable for retrofit projects)
- Preparation of Cable block diagram
- Preparation of Cable Schedule & BoQ estimation for ordering
- Preparation of Wiring/Termination diagrams
- Preparation of Core sheets
- Preparation of SCS IO Schedule
- Panel Engineering Expertise (Layouts, circuit diagram, wiring table, terminal table etc.,) - Preferred
- Preparation of Voltage drop calculation - Trip & Close coil, LVAC power cable
- Identification of existing drawings and modifying them using Red and Green markups as per standard requirements
- Interface knowledge with Primary Equipment, Bay Controller Units /SCADA/RTU/Tele protection are essential
- Auxiliary Power System design like Low Voltage AC Panel & DC Panel requirements, Aux Tr and Battery & Charger Sizing, ACDC Cable sizing & CB selectivity study.
- CT / VT Sizing
- Relay configuration (Preferred)
- Excellent knowledge in AIS & GIS secondary designs.
- As Built documentation
- Co-ordination with other departments like primary, lead engineer, sourcing, C&R factory counterpart & own department control and protection etc. for design progress & completion
- Vendor Offer Evaluations. FAT / SAT of primary secondary equipment, system as and when needed.
- Ensure Ontime delivery of design deliverables & to be vigilant on project schedule impacts.
- Responsible for obtaining customer approvals for the designs and drawings
- Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation
- Take part in customer meetings / site visits for tender/project clarifications
- Support and act as interface engineer during erection & commissioning
- Estimation of engineering effort for each project for costing at tender stage
- Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering effort
- Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system
- Ensure the Safety through design principles which meant for complete project lifecycle.
Having an idea about the following activities:
- Vendor Offer Evaluations. FAT / SAT of primary secondary equipment, system as and when needed.
- Ensure Ontime delivery of design deliverables & to be vigilant on project schedule impacts.
- Technical data sheets verification of equipment’s. Knowledge of equipment, such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, etc
- Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation
- Take part in customer meetings / site visits for tender/project clarifications
- Support and act as interface engineer during erection & commissioning
- Estimation of engineering effort for each project for costing at tender stage
- Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering effort
- Vendor Offer Evaluations. FAT / SAT of primary secondary equipment, system as and when needed.

Skills Required
- Experience preparing Design Intent Documents and reviewing tender technical specifications
- Preparation of Protection Single Line Diagrams showing principles, relays and meters
- Preparation of Functional Design Standards/Descriptions and signal lists, trip matrix, logics and interlocks
- Technical vetting and review of vendor drawings for Control & Relay panels and auxiliary systems
- Ability to prepare schematic diagrams, circuit diagrams for new and retrofit setups, wiring/termination diagrams and core sheets
- Preparation of relay ordering information, cable block diagrams, cable schedule and BoQ estimation
- Preparation and maintenance of SCS I/O schedules and panel engineering deliverables (layouts, circuit diagrams, wiring/terminal tables)
- Auxiliary power system design including LVAC panels, DC panels, auxiliary transformer, battery and charger sizing, ACDC cable sizing and CB selectivity
- CT and VT sizing and related instrument transformer knowledge
- Interface knowledge with primary equipment, Bay Controller Units, SCADA, RTU and teleprotection systems
- Excellent knowledge in AIS and GIS secondary designs and as-built documentation
- Vendor offer evaluations and participation in FAT / SAT of primary and secondary equipment
- Support and act as interface engineer during erection and commissioning and participate in customer/site meetings
- Estimation of engineering effort for tender costing and ensuring on-time delivery of design deliverables
- Plan, implement, review and continuously improve quality systems and ensure safety through design principles
- Panel engineering expertise (layouts, circuit diagram, wiring table, terminal table etc.)
- Relay configuration experience
