The Role

Blue Cross of Idaho is seeking a seasonal Medical Record Abstractor that will conduct a comprehensive review of medical records in accordance with NCQA guidelines and HEDIS technical specifications.

This position can be remote within a mutually acceptable location. #LI-Remote

We're looking for a Medical Record Abstractor with:Level I:

Experience: 2 years’ health related, medical record review, or relevant experience to include medical terminology.

Level II:

Experience: 3 years’ health related, medical record review, or relevant experience to include medical terminology.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Science, Nursing, Social Work or related field; or equivalent work experience (Two years’ relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)

Preferred License:
  • Registered Nurse
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Medical Assistant

What a day of a Medical Record Abstractor would look like:

  • With a high level of accuracy, interpret relevant clinical criteria through review of medical records.
  • Review and interpret HEDIS technical specifications (training is provided)
  • Review assigned medical records and abstract clinical data elements for HEDIS reporting.
  • Enter data collected into HEDIS platform (Inovalon).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Review Idaho Health Data Exchange for pertinent medical records.
  • Remotely access assigned Electronic Health Records to abstract medical records.
  • Collaborate with abstraction and administrative team to ensure a successful HEDIS audit.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range is $28.23 to $48.26. The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus (variable depending on company and employee performance.

The pay range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, internal equity, geography, business or organizational needs, and alignment with market data. At Blue Cross of Idaho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for the position. Compensation decisions are dependent on factors and circumstances at the time of offer.
