The SEM Campaign Manager is responsible for the strategy, creation, and optimization of our paid search accounts. This position will manage the full life cycle of the campaign, from conception and defining objectives to execution, budget pacing, conversion tracking, and reporting. As part of our Search team, you will create new campaigns, conduct bid management and On-going optimization in support of advertiser goals. Confidence, accountability, and action-oriented attitude and habits are keys to success.
What you will do:

  • Creating and managing a book of paid search campaigns (PPC, Display, Mobile, Microsoft, Google Ads) across a variety of industries and utilizing various internal web-based systems
  • Analyzing campaign performance using a variety of programs including Google Analytics and Adtaxi's proprietary tools
  • Keyword research and expansion, ad copy creation, competitive benchmarking, bid management and budget pacing of accounts
  • Provide proactive and strategic campaign recommendations on a regular basis
  • Implementing advanced campaign additions including Pmax, dynamic remarketing, YouTube advertising, shopping campaigns, advanced bidding strategies and Conversion Tracking
  • Work closely with other departments in the company and vendors to ensure a successful campaign and holistic experience for our clients
  • QA campaigns before launching
  • Assess landing pages used in search engine marketing campaigns
  • Create campaign reports
  • Monitoring of new trends in Search and making recommendations to client-facing staff


What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years managing campaigns on Google Ads and Microsoft Ads (Analytics certification preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Extensive knowledge of Google Analytics or other third party analytics and optimization tools
  • Ability to multi-task and work within firm deadlines
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Prior experience with PPC and SEO management platforms
  • Proficiency in Excel and strong quantitative skills
  • Agency experience or experience working with multiple direct response advertiser accounts
  • Basic HTML and CSS knowledge, and experience with tag managers is a plus


The annual salary range is $60,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).

The majority of our roles are 100% remote excluding Production & Circulation although some roles require customer visits or occasional in office work. We do not have any intention of returning to an in office environment/culture.
