QUALITY ASSURANCEWhat We Do
The Quality Assurance team owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of all products and functions across Epic. Our team works closely with developers and production to ensure the best possible user experience for our community and customers.
What You'll Do
Our SDETs are first and foremost software engineers; they act as force multipliers for quality efforts across the business by providing tools, frameworks, coaching, and education. As we continue to grow a world-class technical organization within Quality Assurance, we are looking for a SDET Manager with proven leadership and test engineering vision for our Fortnite Ecosystem team.
In this role, you will
- Develop automation frameworks from the ground up, making decisions on what and where to prioritize, while developing team structures necessary to expand your efforts
- Collaborate with QA and Development teams to craft automation processes that are robust, reliable, easy to use, and increase visibility into automated efforts and test augmentation
- Build relationships and partnerships with internal customers and stakeholders across the company
- Run teams teams that impact multiple projects across the Fortnite Ecosystem space
- Mentor, coach, and develop a team of SDETs at various career stages
- Maintain excellent technical practices e.g. refactoring, minimizing technical debt, and unit testing, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Develop tools to assist in tester augmentation, backward compatibility, and performance stability
What we're looking for
- 6+ year of test engineering and automation frameworks
- Excellent leadership skills, including mentorship, planning technical roadmaps, making trade-offs, and prioritization
- Good knowledge of how game engines work; Experience with either UE4/Unity or a custom internal game engine
- Ability to architect solutions for development and QA when solutions do not exist within the space required
- Experience developing systems and tools that enhance the experience or capabilities of internal partner teams
- Experience with automation frameworks and continuous integration systems
- Ability to quickly understand complex tech stacks and find solutions that complement/extend rather than bypass existing investments
- Experience with developing unit testing and integration testing strategies, Test Driven Development, Behaviour Driven Development
- Experience with Polyglot development, working between full-stack systems, examples could be something like a Game Engine and an Online Service team, a full stack web application (service and frontend)
- Games industry experience is a plus
