Bright was founded in 2019 by a founding team from McKinsey’s Banking Practice (Petko Plachkov and Avi Patchava) and InMobi Data Scientists (Varun Modi and Avi Patchava). What is the team & role about?
  • The Frontend Engineering team builds and scales Bright’s core user experiences across mobile and web platforms, ensuring a fast, stable, and intelligent product experience.

  • This team owns the React Native mobile app, which serves as the backbone for Bright’s AI-driven credit, debt, and savings products

  • The Frontend SDE II role focuses on leading mobile architecture, performance, and feature delivery across React Native, React, Swift, and Kotlin, while collaborating closely with BFF, Product, and Design teams. The role combines deep technical expertise with leadership in engineering best practices and delivery ownership.

What you will do?
  • Design, build, test, and maintain features in Bright’s React Native application.

  • Take end-to-end ownership of frontend features from technical design through production release and monitoring.

  • Build reusable components, hooks, utilities, and shared frontend libraries.

  • Work with Swift/Kotlin native modules when React Native features require native platform integration.

  • Contribute to Bright’s adoption of React Native New Architecture, including Fabric, TurboModules, Hermes, and JSI.

  • Integrate and evolve Bright’s design system and contribute to Figma → Code and AI-assisted UI development workflows.

  • Collaborate with Product and Design teams to build dynamic and configurable user experiences.

  • Integrate frontend applications with BFF/API layers and contribute to frontend-owned BFF implementations where required.

  • Improve application performance across startup time, navigation, rendering, memory usage, and network performance.

  • Use tools such as Sentry, Firebase, Mixpanel, and New Relic to identify production issues and improve application quality.

  • Contribute to CI/CD, automated releases, OTA updates, and mobile build pipelines.

  • Write automated tests and contribute to improving E2E and regression test coverage.

  • Participate actively in technical discussions, code reviews, debugging, and architecture improvements.

  • Work with senior engineers and contribute ideas for improving frontend architecture, developer experience, and engineering processes.

Ideal candidate profile looks like?
  • 3–5 years of experience in frontend/mobile application development.

  • Strong hands-on experience with React Native, React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.

  • Good understanding of React Native internals, component lifecycle, navigation, state management, and performance optimization.

  • Experience building and shipping production mobile applications for iOS and Android.

  • Working knowledge of Swift, Kotlin, or Java and ability to debug native mobile issues.

  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and experience working with frontend/backend integrations.

  • Experience building reusable components or frontend libraries.

  • Understanding of mobile app lifecycle, release processes, CI/CD, and OTA updates.

  • Experience with monitoring and analytics tools such as Sentry, Firebase, Mixpanel, or New Relic.

  • Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, debugging, and software engineering fundamentals.

  • Experience with Git/GitHub and collaborative development workflows.

  • Strong ownership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Experience & Background:

  • Experience with React Native New Architecture, Fabric, TurboModules, Hermes, or JSI.

  • Exposure to BFF, GraphQL, or backend development.

  • Experience with design systems, design tokens, Storybook, or Figma-to-code workflows.

  • Exposure to AI-assisted development, code generation, or dynamic UI systems.

  • Experience with automated testing using tools such as RTL, Maestro, Detox, Appium, XCTest, or similar.

  • Experience improving mobile performance at scale.

  • Experience building internal developer tools, SDKs, or shared libraries.
