The Role
As a Scrum Master we blend deep Scrum expertise with a passion for mentoring, coaching, and continual improvement. As part of a highly collaborative squad we advise, mentor, and coach agile values, practices, and processes to accelerate squad value delivery. In partnership with the squad leader, we will maintain a product backlog, help remove impediments, and actively facilitate agile events including the daily scrum, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint review, and retrospectives. We have responsibility to lead release management coordination, participate in scaling events, and planning activities as we manage interdependencies across squads and product areas. We will examine and drive team performance through performance metrics. We will find opportunities for the squad to fully realize the benefits of working in an agile operating model. This opportunity is for a Scrum Master to join an established squad and team-of-teams structure within our Fidelity Institutional Data Sharing Products product area.
The ideal candidate for this product area and its squad(s) will operate as a leader who serves highly visible, enterprise level initiatives involving the onboarding of external clients to a new Snowflake data platform, Data Transmission migration to a cloud solution, activation of Crypto Data Transmissions, opportunity for modernizing Transmissions in bulk and support mainframe modernization by enabling MIPS reduction through the decommission of jobs.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 4-year bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) credential (or, similar Scrum credential) with 3-4 years of Scrum Master experience operating as a leader who serves team(s) and can actively scale across partnering teams in a scrum framework.
- Strong understanding of and experience with Agile practices, processes, and artifacts.
- Experience and familiarity using tools including Jira, Jira Align, Miro, Microsoft Virtual Board, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Teams.
- Lead the impediment resolution process.
- Partner with Squad Leads, team members to identify and manage dependencies.
- Technology and Brokerage background preferred, but not required.
- Mainframe knowledge required
- Excellent communication and people skills; can rapidly build trust, positively influence others at all levels of the organization, and drive teams towards realizing outcomes.
- Proven change agent capable of coaching agile practices to teams and individuals across distinct functions, experiences, and geographies (time zones) as they work through new and unfamiliar situations.
- An effective, proven facilitator across all Scrum related events; Able to brainstorm with the team to generate solutions that address challenges and resolve roadblocks to accelerating value delivery.
- An intellectual curiosity, passion for developing skills, modeling a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching.

We support a cross-functional squad focusing on Digitizing secure experiences for our customers. Our Scrum Masters engage with all team members, including the Squad Leader, to reinforce an agile approach and principles into the daily work. Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).
