Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We want all of our people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How You Will Achieve More:

We are seeking a Scientist to join our Translational Medicine group, focused on discovery proteomics to identify and characterize biomarkers and profile immune recognition of therapeutic candidates. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on mass spectrometry expertise across biomarker discovery workflows and immunopeptidomics, with experience in top-down or native protein mass spectrometry considered a strong plus. This is a hands-on, laboratory-based role where your data will directly inform how we evaluate and advance our therapeutic candidates.

Responsibility:

  • Design and execute discovery proteomics workflows — including sample preparation, LC-MS/MS data acquisition, and downstream bioinformatic analysis — to identify and characterize candidate biomarkers across biological matrices.
  • Develop and run immunopeptidomics workflows, from MHC class I/II immunoaffinity purification through peptide elution, cleanup, and nanoflow LC-MS/MS, to profile HLA-presented peptides and characterize immune recognition of therapeutic candidates.
  • Analyze complex proteomics and immunopeptidomics datasets using specialized search software and bioinformatic tools, translating results into clear, actionable insights.
  • Apply top-down and/or native mass spectrometry approaches, where relevant, to characterize protein higher-order structure, complex integrity, and post-translational modifications (a valued but not required skill set).
  • Select and optimize separation chemistry and MS platforms best suited to each analyte and biological question.
  • Plan and lead well-defined assay development and discovery projects end-to-end, independently identifying the broader objectives each project should address.
  • Author assay methods, SOPs, and bioanalytical/risk assessment reports, and partner closely with immunology, process development, and other cross-functional teams to communicate findings.

About You:

  • Hands-on experience with immunopeptidomics workflows, including MHC/HLA immunoprecipitation and low-abundance peptide LC-MS/MS
  • Experience with native and/or intact protein mass spectrometry
  • Familiarity with HLA-binding prediction tools and immunopeptidomics-specific proteomics search software
  • Strong bioanalytical and structural mass spectrometry background
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply in-depth theoretical knowledge to complex technical challenges within a defined scientific area
  • Ability to execute studies, manage outlined timelines, and ensure data quality
  • Ability to draw conclusions from experimental results and apply them to new experiments
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize effectively across competing demands
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • PhD in a biological or relevant technical/engineering field, or equivalent through a combination of education and experience
  • 0–3+ years of relevant experience post-PhD (or 6–9+ years with an MS, or 8–11+ years with a BS)
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

What We Do

Intellia Therapeutics is a leading genome editing company whose mission is to develop potentially curative gene editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases. We are focused on the development of proprietary therapeutics using a recently developed biological tool known as the CRISPR/Cas9 system. The promise of the CRISPR/Cas9 system is the driving force behind the creation of Intellia. Our founders have a shared belief that the CRISPR/Cas9 technology has the potential to transform medicine by permanently editing disease-associated genes in the human body with a single treatment course. This technology offers the potential for us to develop curative therapeutic options for patients with chronic diseases by addressing the underlying cause of the disease. It can bring new hope and cures to people who now have nowhere to turn for help. Our combination of deep scientific expertise and clinical development experience, along with our leading intellectual property portfolio, puts Intellia in a unique position to unlock broad therapeutic applications of the CRISPR/Cas9 technology and create a new class of therapeutic products. Intellia has the right people, assets and ambitious vision needed to take full advantage of the CRISPR/Cas9 technology’s attributes – high potency, specificity, simplicity of use, broad applicability, and multifunctional programmability – and accelerate the advancement of curative products into the clinic.
