About the Position

  • Provide technical support to key customers and partners with qualification and commercialization of Lygos ingredients, value delivery / quantification projects, problem solving, and complaint handling.
  • Collaborates as technical liaison between our customers and Lygos internal teammates. Prepares reports to summarize findings & conclusions and effectively communicates technical information directly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leverages lab studies, external insights, and customer feedback to guide product development and strengthen business case assumptions for innovation projects.
  • Plans and communicates laboratory requests to Lygos’ Lab to support customer, market, and internal development projects
  • Provides Homecare market support through involvement in professional societies and industry associations
  • Provide instructions and leadership to research associates as needed

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • M.S. Degree or higher in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry or related field or similar combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of application development experience
  • Demonstrated expertise and success in development of ingredients / formulations for Homecare applications
  • Demonstrated expertise designing experiments and data analysis
  • Familiarity with Homecare value chain, key parties, and trade associations
  • Experience managing multiple projects and assignments and adapting to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and in writing, across all levels and functions.

Nice-to-haves (but not required):

  • Experience in Laundry and/or AutoDish formulation development for a major FMCG company
  • Experience developing property-process-performance relationship for homecare ingredients in formulations
  • Experience in personal care product formulation
  • Existing contacts at homecare product manufacturers=

Location information:

This position is for our Hayward, CA  location.  The employee must work on-site at this location 4 days per week.  Willing to travel up to 25% of the time.  

Compensation and Benefits:

Lygos offers highly competitive salaries, stock options, bonus and benefits, including medical and dental insurance, unlimited paid time off, and 401(k).

Salary Range: $140,000 - 160,000  Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location, skill, experience, and performance.
