As a Scientist I in the Ligand Discovery Group, you will participate in the identification and optimization of ligands for Repligen's custom and catalog resin platforms. Working within a collaborative and innovative team, you will apply molecular biology and discovery technologies to support product development efforts and contribute to projects from early-stage research through commercialization. The ideal candidate possesses strong molecular biology skills and experience with phage display, yeast display, ribosomal display, or other relevant discovery platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments to discover and optimize protein-binding ligands using display technologies such as phage, yeast, or ribosomal display.
  • Analyze experimental data, communicate findings, and prepare technical reports and presentations for internal teams and external collaborators.
  • Partner with R&D, resin development, manufacturing, and commercial teams to advance projects from concept to market and support successful project outcomes.
  • Manage and coordinate activities for custom and catalog resin development projects, proactively driving progress and ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing workflows and implement innovative approaches that enhance discovery capabilities and accelerate project execution.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and scientific advancements in ligand discovery and protein engineering, applying new insights to advance team objectives.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • 0-5 years of academic or industry experience.
  • Experience with phage display, yeast display, ribosomal display, or other relevant discovery platforms.
  • Hands-on molecular cloning experience, including restriction enzyme-mediated cloning and/or Gibson Assembly.
  • Experience with Snap Gene or similar gene design and analysis software.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and scientific communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FACS experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with affinity chromatography and/or ion exchange chromatography.
  • Experience managing multiple projects or priorities in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and delivering high-quality scientific outcomes.

The estimated base salary range for this role, based in the United States of America is $84,000 - $121,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to an individual's ,qualifications, location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, employees are eligible to participate in one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package. We offer a wide range of benefits such as paid time off, health/dental/vision, retirement benefits and flexible spending accounts. All compensation and benefits information will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
