We are looking for a talented Student for our School to Work – Finance position to join our team, specializing in Finance for our Cummins Inc. facility in Maxton, NC.
Job Summary:
The Cummins Drivetrain & Braking Systems (CDBS) student who is pursuing a future in Finance or Accounting. The primary role of the Finance school-to-work is to provide administrative support to the Supply chain finance org. The student will, at the same time, gain real world experience and education in the field of Finance in a business-to-business environment.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Inventory Accuracy & Control: Support inventory reconciliations and cycle count analysis to identify discrepancies, improve accuracy, and help maintain reliable inventory records.
- Physical Inventory Execution: Assist with physical inventory activities by coordinating counts, validating data, and ensuring compliance with inventory control procedures.
- Product Costing Analysis: Contribute to product costing maintenance, cost roll activities, and cost analysis to support accurate product valuation and informed business decisions.
- Financial Reporting Support: Prepare and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, providing timely insights that support operational and financial performance.
- Month-End Close Excellence: Assist with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and variance analysis, ensuring accurate financial results and reporting.
- Data-Driven Insights: Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, highlight risks, and provide recommendations that support continuous improvement.
- Process Improvement & Automation: Develop and enhance Excel-based tools, reports, and trackers to increase efficiency, improve data accuracy, and streamline reporting processes.
- Cross-Functional Business Support: Partner with finance, operations, and other stakeholders to complete ad hoc analyses and special projects, helping drive business objectives and informed decision-making.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Analytical & Technical Skills: Ability to work with data, perform basic financial analysis, and utilize Microsoft Excel effectively for reporting, reconciliations, and problem-solving.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to support inventory accuracy, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting activities.
- Commitment to Learning & Collaboration: Willingness to work 100% on-site in Maxton, NC, learn manufacturing finance processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute in a part-time School-to-Work environment beginning in Q4 2026.
Education, Licenses, Certification
- Educational Foundation: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field, with a strong understanding of financial and analytical concepts.
