North Star Health is seeking a fulltime Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) responsible for providing behavioral health treatment within the School-Based Health Centers in the Springfield School District. Services provided will include individual short term interventions to children and adolescents and their families, along with consultation with patients’ school and medical teams (primary care providers, psychiatric prescribers, nurses, psychologists, fellow social workers, teachers, and community health team members) and families.

The social worker has the exciting opportunity to participate in a progressive community-based approach to whole health care. The qualified candidate will be responsible for individual therapeutic services to a range of child and adolescent patients in the School-Based Health Centers of the Springfield School District. School-Based Health Centers help students perform better in school, decreasing behavior problems, improving attendance, and putting them in a position to learn by supporting their holistic health.

The candidate will work closely with an integrated health team that includes a pediatrician, school nurses, educators, care coordinators, fellow social workers, wellness coaches, and community health team members to support the development of identified patients and their families. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, North Star Health has the advantage of exploring progressive means to improve overall health, rather than single diagnoses or problems at a time. It is important that the social worker have a strong working knowledge of current diagnostic criteria of child and adolescent presentations of psychiatric illness and developmental concerns. Additionally, background and experience working in a school setting is desired, as the identified candidate will provide consultative services to school administration and teachers.

Additional Required Duties:

  • Execute responsibilities efficiently and in an organized manner. This would include maintaining electronic medical records.
  • Demonstrate professional ethics and behavior and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain professional competence through remaining abreast of current research, legal requirements, evidence-based practices, and technology.
  • Consultation and contact with outside agencies and schools.
  • Risk assessments (risk to harm of self and others) and collaboration with medical providers as needed.

Requirements


LICSW in Vermont and New Hampshire (or license eligible)

MSW working towards licensure opportunity also eligible to apply

Skills Required

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) state credential
  • Strong working knowledge of child and adolescent psychiatric diagnostic criteria and developmental concerns
  • Experience conducting risk assessments for harm to self or others and collaborating with medical providers
  • Ability to maintain electronic medical records and work in an organized manner
  • Demonstrated professional ethics, confidentiality, and ongoing professional competence
