CHLDC has an opening for one (1) part-time School Aide in the College Success division at Brooklyn Lab School in the Franklin K. Lane Campus. Community Schools is a strategy to organize resources and share leadership to integrate social services into the fabric of the schools. Community Schools are  equipped to better serve the needs of families so that students come to school ready and able  to learn. This is a salaried, non-exempt position.  


Community Schools offer a holistic approach toward improving academic performance driven by strong, collaborative partnerships among principals, parents, teachers and CBOs. In Community Schools, parents are real and active partners in their children's education, the school climate is joyful and positive, and expanded learning opportunities are standard. An integral part of this approach is the integration and alignment of school- and community-based services throughout an expanded learning day  (such as health, mental health, counseling and academic enrichment).  


Principal Duties:

  • Promote positive and welcoming environment for all students, staff and families.
  • Must be willing to chaperone school trips.
  • Must be able and willing to stand for long periods of time.
  • Support hallway and clear staircases.
  • Support the Lunchroom during the schools lunch period.
  • Safeguard the pool during the aquatic course alongside the licensed Physical Education teacher.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/ High School Equivalency Required.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish / Bengali/ Arabic Preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • A self-starting team player with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, with strong relationship building skills.
  • Must clear DOE fingerprinting and background authorizations.
  • Flexibility with schedule to assist with events when needed.

Compensation:

  • $20 hourly - 25 hours a week Monday-Friday.
