Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The purpose of this role is to provide dedicated technical, administrative, and systems support to the responsible Technical Manager, as well as to the auditors operating within these technical areas.

Management of the QHSE Certification Products and the team of auditors in accordance with the different Standards and Accreditation requirements in line with the applicable SGS Global- and Local System Procedures.  The role ensures the accurate management of auditor competency records, supports qualification and approval processes, facilitates effective use of Business Assurance systems, and contributes to maintaining compliance, quality, and operational efficiency within the assigned technical domains.

Maintaining Lead Auditor status for at least one of the applicable standards and maintaining accreditation for the relevant standards.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing and implementing the different QHSE Product requirements.
  • Managing auditors on a day-to-day basis and support auditors with administrative, IT and audit related issues with the assistance of the Technical Manager, if necessary.
  • Offering guidance with audit planning and preparation of audit programs including international affiliates.
  • Assisting with resources – from sourcing to onboarding; including signing off auditors.
  • Auditor training and development.
  • Training of staff and auditors to qualify and perform specific/required certification competencies/functions.
  • Maintaining local accreditation for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and implementing procedures to facilitate this, where necessary.
  • Involvement in accreditation assessments, internal audits (L2 and L3), impartiality committee meetings.
  • Implementing and adhering to accreditation requirements as relevant
  • Assists in the development, control and maintenance of system documents.
  • Maintaining lead auditor qualifications.
  • Conducting audits based on the requirements of the Standards.
  • Preparation of audit findings and reports.
  • Technical review and/or certification decision of audit packs.
  • Achieve performance targets and KPI's of the unit as applicable; Achieve technical KPl's of audit pack submission to back-office; Client follow-up visits as and when required.
  • Assist with business development for BA business.
  • Liaison with external stakeholders as and when required.
  • Any other technical/certification tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Technical support to the BA Academy with the development of new training material and courses as needed.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by the Technical Manager

SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES

  • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or entry to hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and take action to address the hazard.
  • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and take action to address the issue.
  • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum 3-year tertiary qualification related to quality, environment or health and safety
  • Proficiency in English

Experience

  • 5 – 10 years’ general work experience of which at least 2 years were in a position related to quality, environment or health and safety
  • Knowledge and experience in Project- and Operations Management
  • Experience in the following will be advantageous:
    • Experience managing competency records, databases, or system-based records
    • Experience coordinating or facilitating onboarding processes for staff and/or contractors
    • Experience providing first-level user or system support
    • Experience capturing, monitoring, and reporting on KPIs or performance metrics
    • Experience in customer service and stakeholder liaison
  • Exposure to certification bodies, auditing environments, or accreditation systems (ISO 17021 / 17065) will be advantageous

  • Advanced proficiency in CertIQ or DigiApp, including supporting others or troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Experience with audit or certification management systems.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills (e.g., Excel, Power BI dashboards, KPI tracking).
  • Experience supporting a Technical Manager or similar technical leadership role.
  • Process improvement or workflow optimisation experience.
  • Strong stakeholder‑relationship management skills.
