This position leads and develops a team of Schedulers, ensuring scheduling practices are consistent, accurate, and aligned with company objectives. The Production Scheduling Supervisor must have full working knowledge of Scheduler responsibilities and be capable of performing scheduling duties as needed. This role also serves as the backup to the Master Scheduler, supporting the development, maintenance, and execution of the Master Schedule when required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, train, and develop a team of Schedulers to ensure accurate and effective daily and weekly production scheduling. 
  • Review the Master Schedule and direct the scheduling team in establishing production schedules that are realistic, achievable, and aligned with customer demand. 
  • Serve as backup to the Master Scheduler, including supporting schedule updates, capacity reviews, priority changes, and communication of schedule impacts. 
  • Ensure production has a reliable schedule to build by continually monitoring current and future material inventories, labor availability, production capacity, and customer requirements. 
  • Monitor Scheduler performance, workload, accuracy, and adherence to scheduling processes and company procedures. 
  • Avoid line shortages through continual planning, material review, labor planning, and communication with Production, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and other internal teams. 
  • Create and oversee contingency plans consisting of parts to be built in the event of extraordinary fallout, material shortages, labor constraints, equipment downtime, or other production disruptions. 
  • Establish, improve, and enforce scheduling processes to correct inventory levels, improve material flow, and reduce variances, shortages, and production interruptions. 
  • Set and maintain proper inventory levels for all assigned parts, ensuring production lines continue to run while the Company maintains acceptable inventory turns. 
  • Control and monitor the flow of material through the entire production process. 
  • Analyze scheduling issues, material constraints, capacity concerns, and production risks; escalate concerns and recommend corrective actions as needed. 
  • Build and develop strong relationships with internal and external customers to resolve problems, support changing business needs, and improve scheduling effectiveness. 
  • Partner with Production, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Customer Service, Product Marketing, and Operations leadership to ensure alignment on priorities and customer commitments. 
  • Ensure the scheduling team properly evaluates and communicates core availability, material shortages, production constraints, and schedule changes. 
  • Analyze and communicate trends and changes within the core market to the Product Marketing group in order to support strategy development and contingency planning. 
  • Provide reporting, analysis, and updates related to schedule attainment, shortages, inventory levels, production risks, and Scheduler performance. 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling, inventory accuracy, material flow, customer service, and production efficiency. 
  • Ensure team members follow all company policies, safety standards, procedures, and performance expectations. 
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, disciplinary actions, and employee development for assigned team members.


Key Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in business and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
  • Able to make judgments and decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication and organizational skills are required in order to communicate clearly and persuasively with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization
