Job Summary:

Coordinates the scheduling of surgeries and related procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.

  • May communicate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure availability of facilities and staff.

  • Communicates with patients and/or their families to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and/or to confirm appointments.

  • Performs insurance verification and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.

  • May be responsible for managing the referral work queue, entering patient demographic information, and scanning documents into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

  • May correspond with referring providers and/or patients for reports, information exchange, scheduling, x-rays, and paperwork.

  • May provide administrative support for Physicians or Nurse Practitioners.

Education

  • High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred     

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position.
