GAL Manufacturing is currently looking for a dedicated Scheduling and Planning Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating the production plan to satisfy the planned level of sales, while meeting the company’s profit, productivity, and lead time and customer satisfaction goals. Will coordinate the production plan with sales objectives, resource availability and financial budgets, providing direct and consistent dialogue between operations, sales, and customer service.


Requirements

We are searching for a candidate with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or engineering preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Materials Planning, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • APICS certification is preferred
  • Must have a clear understanding of manufacturing processes and manufacturing planning and control systems.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication.
  • Lean application/implementation experience a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

A typical day may include: 

  • Evaluate purchase orders to create effective production schedules. Establishes the sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer expectations.
  • Estimate production time for each order, considering availability of machine resources, materials, tooling, number of operations, order backlog, order quantity, complexity of product, outside operations, and historical performance
  • Make decisions related to production priorities and expedites based on the overall business and customer needs. You will adjust forecasted daily and weekly capacity and product mix.
  • Manages material planning activity to ensure timely delivery of material to support production operations
  • Continually manages and adjusts production schedules in response to fluctuations in raw material availability, manufacturing capacity, and demand for products. Work closely with corporate Supply Chain group.
  • Conduct capacity and Labor analysis. Monitor labor needed to minimize fluctuations in the work force.
  • Recommend operational changes, such as OT, staffing, or equipment changes, to ensure on time execution to plan that supports customer’s delivery requirements.
  • Participate in daily Tiered Meeting so all efforts are coordinated to accomplish the same goals
  • Generate monthly Key Performance Indicators and make recommendations.
  • Manages production order variance to minimize cost discrepancies and inventory inaccuracies and identify root cause
  • Recommend viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality
  • Support Engineering for the implementation of product, process, and equipment changes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new or improved manufacturing and production control systems and procedures
  • Work with Finance and Operations to establish the annual Long-Term Planning. Assist in the development of the annual department budgets, including personnel and equipment requirements.
