Scheduler - Indian Wells, CA
OVERVIEW: Performs diverse administrative duties and customer service for telephone customers such as patients, referring physicians, and staff members. A working knowledge of healthcare insurance and prior radiology medical office experience is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform general scheduler duties including answering phones, routing calls, and requesting priors
- Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information.
- Facilitates patient flow by coordinating calendars of the center, radiologist, technologist and patient.
- Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders, and monitoring office equipment.
- Responds to inquiries by patients, prospective patients in a courteous manner.
- Protects patient confidentiality by following HIPAA guidelines, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
- Follows compliance guidelines.
- Collects insurance information in various forms from patients.
- Verifies accuracy of clinical patient data
- Route incoming faxes.
- Keeps the work area clean and organized.
- Updates patient data throughout patient encounter to ensure accurate and successful billing.
- Able to cover other team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- high school diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED)
- knowledge of healthcare insurance
- knowledge of human anatomy is required
- radiology medical scheduling experience is preferred
Pay: $21 an hour
