 We are currently seeking a Scaffolding Specialist, to join our team based in MMY Dahej, Gujarat.

Job Purpose:

The Scaffolding Specialist is responsible for planning, supervising, inspecting, and ensuring the safe erection, modification, and dismantling of scaffolding systems within the modular manufacturing yard. The role ensures that all scaffolding activities comply with applicable safety standards, engineering requirements, project specifications, and company procedures to support fabrication, assembly, painting, lifting, and maintenance work.

Job Role:

Scaffolding Planning and Coordination

  • Plan scaffolding requirements based on project scope, work fronts, and access needs.
  • Review work schedules and coordinate scaffold availability to support fabrication and assembly activities.
  • Determine the type, height, load capacity, and configuration of scaffolding required for each task.
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, quality, and HSE teams to ensure scaffold access is available as needed.

Scaffold Erection, Inspection, and Dismantling

  • Supervise scaffold erection, alteration, relocation, and dismantling activities.
  • Ensure scaffolds are built according to approved drawings, manufacturer instructions, and safety standards.
  • Inspect scaffolds before use, after modification, and at defined intervals.
  • Tag scaffolds appropriately as safe for use, restricted, or unsafe.
  • Verify that all scaffold components are in good condition and properly assembled.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all scaffolding work complies with company HSE policies and applicable local/international standards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for scaffold crews.
  • Identify and correct unsafe scaffold practices or conditions.
  • Ensure proper use of fall protection, personal protective equipment, and scaffold access systems.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and non-conformities promptly.

Workforce Supervision and Training

  • Lead and supervise scaffolders and helpers in daily operations.
  • Provide guidance on safe work methods, scaffold standards, and best practices.
  • Participate in training and competency assessments for scaffold workers.
  • Ensure only qualified personnel are assigned to scaffolding tasks.

Material and Equipment Management

  • Monitor scaffold materials, tools, and equipment usage.
  • Inspect scaffolding components for damage, wear, or defects.
  • Maintain inventory records and request replacement materials as required.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of scaffold materials to prevent damage and loss.

Coordination with Other Trades

  • Work closely with fabrication, welding, piping, electrical, painting, and lifting teams to support access requirements.
  • Coordinate scaffold erection to avoid interference with ongoing yard operations.
  • Adjust scaffold plans based on changes in production priorities or work scope.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain scaffold inspection logs, permits, certificates, and daily activity reports.
  • Record scaffold identification numbers, locations, and status.
  • Submit reports on scaffold progress, issues, delays, and safety observations.
  • Support audits and inspections by internal or external authorities.

  • Diploma / B.E/ B. Tech  in Civil, Construction, Mechanical, or related field preferred.
  • Valid scaffolding certification or trade qualification.
  • Additional HSE training/certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum 10-15 of experience in scaffolding operations, preferably in , fabrication, modular, or construction yards.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of scaffolding systems, components, and erection methods.
  • Ability to read and understand scaffold drawings and work plans.
  • Good understanding of load limits, access requirements, and fall protection.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced yard environment and coordinate multiple activities.
  • Problem-solving ability to adapt scaffold design to changing work conditions.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in industrial yard conditions.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined or congested areas.
  • Ability to lift, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends based on project needs.

Performance Expectations

  • Zero tolerance for unsafe scaffolding practices.
  • Timely availability of safe and compliant scaffolding for work execution.
  • Accurate scaffold inspection and documentation.
  • Effective coordination with other departments and minimal disruption to operations.
  • High standard of housekeeping, material control, and workforce discipline.

  • Experience in modular construction, prefabrication, heavy fabrication,
  • Familiarity with scaffold tagging systems and permit-to-work processes.
