The SCADA Engineer supports and operates the systems, processes, and technologies surrounding EQT’s SCADA environment. This includes providing ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, user management, and new application development.
This position is more technically oriented than SCADA Specialist roles and focuses heavily on Ignition, eACM, and Autosol platforms, along with their corresponding interfaces. The role involves translating business and operational requirements into technical solutions that improve data collection, reporting, system integration, and overall performance.
The SCADA Engineer I responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support daily SCADA operations, including system maintenance, troubleshooting, user administration, and application development
- Gather and interpret business requirements and translate them into technical designs, enhancements, and integrations
- Design, develop, and modify SCADA displays and system configurations for new and existing facilities, including:
- Device/point and polling configuration
- Display creation and data validation
- Advanced control interfaces
- Management of associated Salesforce cases
- Provide advanced support for MQTT, Edge devices, and RTU/PLC communications ensuring reliable data flow across systems
- Ensure all SCADA displays, alarms, and communications comply with EQT’s internal SOPs and Production standards
- Leverage a deep understanding of system architecture to solve complex technical problems and improve system performance and usability
- Perform system audits and analyses, including:
- Critical point validation
- SOP compliance checks
- Server data and event log reviews
- Develop and deliver training materials and sessions for internal users and SCADA Specialists
- Lead/Coordinate M&A activity, system upgrades, maintenance, and performance improvements, ensuring minimal operational disruption through testing and validation
- Collaborate with vendors and internal IT teams to support infrastructure and application initiatives
- Provide input into SCADA architecture, cybersecurity, and high-availability (redundancy) design, and assist in system buildout and testing
- Contribute to SCADA design strategy across applications and infrastructure
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of experience supporting SCADA systems in oil & gas or industrial environments (upstream experience preferred)
- Working knowledge of Ignition, eACM, Autosol, or similar SCADA platforms
- Familiarity with OPC-UA, MQTT, and industrial communication protocols
- Experience with data integration, databases, and system interfaces
- Programming/scripting experience (e.g., Python, SQL, or similar) preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate across field operations, engineering, and IT teams
Remote work is being considered for this role excluding the following states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee unless willing to relocate.
