United Community is seeking a highly skilled SBA Portfolio Manager. This job involves managing and supporting the SBA lending portfolio to ensure soundness, profitability, and growth. Responsibilities include portfolio management, credit analysis, underwriting, and sales support. The role also involves identifying and mitigating underwriting risks, analyzing new SBA credit opportunities, and collecting client financial information. Additionally, the position requires mentoring team members, managing loan renewals, and maintaining compliance with regulations.
What You’ll Do- Review loan documents, spread, analyze, and interpret business and financial statements.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of individual requests and make recommendations to mitigate perceived risks.
- Prepare and present credit analysis packages through the credit approval chain with limited supervision.
- Serve as a secondary contact on client relationships for loans within the UCB branch footprint.
- Evaluate and decide on loan renewal requests for SBA Express Lines of Credit.
- Actively manage past dues to minimize late payments.
- Mentor SBA Servicing Portfolio Specialists and other servicing team members.
- Review portfolio loans approaching maturity and work with clients and/or bankers to gather necessary data for informed renewal decisions.
- Manage the loan portfolio for red flags and early warning signals of potential problem loans.
- Work directly with clients and/or UCB bankers or Special Assets Officers to devise appropriate action plans if/when an SBA loan is downgraded.
- Assist with completing the initial CAR in preparation for the loan to transition to the Special Assets Department.
- Complete annual reviews on all borrowing relationships within the portfolios as outlined in the SBA Loan Monitoring procedures.
- Complete any special project work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BS or BA degree, 7 – 10 years of solid experience in financial analysis, loan structuring, analytical skills with problem solving abilities, underwriting and portfolio management preferred
- 3 – 5 years of experience in SBA lending administration
- Ability to assume responsibility and maintain accountability for decision making
- Ability to make sound loan decisions in a timely manner
- Must be very organized, detailed-oriented, and proactive with excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task
- Ability to spread an analyze business and personal financial statements and cash flow, gather relevant information, and make appropriate recommendations utilizing Moody’s or Baker Hill software
- Identify strengths, weaknesses, and mitigating factors for each servicing request
- Extensive knowledge of SBA loan programs and corresponding SOP’s and credit related regulations
- Strong interpersonal skills facilitating maximization of working relationships with customers, SBA team members and UCB bankers
- Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written). Must be able to write clearly and effectively, and be able to communicate one-on-one and in groups
- Proficient computer skills including knowledge of 360 View, Navigator, Director, nCino and Statement Analyzer
- Must be able to pass a criminal background & credit check
- This is a full-time, non-remote position
