Department hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 CST. This is a hybrid role and will require traveling to Valparaiso, IN 2-3 times per week.

Supervisory Duties:  None

Summary:  Aid bankers and clients as they navigate the SBA loan approval process from SBA Authorization to Closing. The SBA Closer I provides assistance with SBA loan application processing and post-approval servicing actions. They use the Credit Quest scoring system in conjunction with Microsoft Excel and SBA specific systems to complete their job. The SBA Closer I will grow to have an excellent understanding of SBA documentation requirements and the different programs offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA). The position will work closely with small business bankers and administrative assistants to provide a seamless loan closing experience for our clients.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide world-class customer service to internal and external clients of the department
  • Initiate verbal and written communication with Clients, Bankers, Administrative Assistants, and departments outside of Small Business
  • Prepare SBA-specific documentation to comply with bank and SBA standards as necessary to close an SBA loan
  • Close SBA 7a loans with clients to ensure proper loan document execution and explanation of documents to clients
  • Follow, track, and communicate all necessary steps from SBA Authorization to SBA loan closing for each client instance
  • Collect and catalogue all necessary SBA documents prior to loan closing
  • Put SBA documentation into the bank’s file storage system
  • Prepare SBA Authorizations as needed
  • Monitor and perform all loan disbursements in compliance with Centier and SBA procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Follow Centier Bank’s Essentials of Excellence
  • Be a team player who exudes a positive attitude
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and other personal leadership skills
  • Proactive self-starter who takes direction well and can act upon it
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required
  • Experience with CSI and Loan Scoring Systems (i.e. Credit Quest, etc.) is preferred
  • Some travel may be required as needed
  • Knowledge and experience with Small Businesses Administration (SBA) programs is preferred

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 0 - 5 years of experience in SBA Processing, loan documentation, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management or related field with a working knowledge of business financial statements preferred
