JOB SUMMARY:
The Business Development Officer – Small Business is responsible for business development with a primary focus on small business lending while maintaining market presence in the local community. Additionally, the BDO will be a resource for the lending teams in the branches. Consistently gains the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establish a consistent business development strategy in the marketplace which includes but is not limited to:
• Call Planning and Follow-Up
• COI Retention Calls
• New Client/COI Prospecting
• Outbound Telephone Calling Efforts
• Networking Events
• Complete understanding of all financial products, target markets, and solutions with a strong emphasis on small business lending and technology.
• Maintain a Center of Influence (COI) base of community and business leaders, leveraging them to gain additional business through referrals.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with internal line of business leaders.
• Ability to source mortgage lenders throughout the state to develop new Centers of Influence.
• Aptitude to source and build new business and personal relationships.
• Manage and maintain current broker relationships and seek opportunities to deepen those relationships.
• Proactively seek continuing education opportunities to enhance business development skills.
• Complete Understanding of credit facilities including, but not limited to:
• Structuring proper terms and product based on client need, useful life, financial growth, debt consolidation, and future need.
• Strong understanding of personal financial statements and tax returns to identify credit worthiness and identifying risk potential.
• Ability to identify short and long term credit facility needs based on personal situation, plans and strategy.
• Able to balance business needs with customer requests while managing potential risk to the bank.
• Proactively seek continuing education opportunities to enhance credit skills.
• Effective navigation and negotiation of complex credit requests both internally and externally.
• Maintains product line proficiency utilizing all educational/training resources available.
• Resolves more difficult customer objections, and solves problems in a positive manner to retain the customer relationship.
• Seeks Senior/Executive management guidance on complex financial matters and responds to management direction.
• Adheres to Seacoast Bank’s Code of Conduct.
• Proactively seek continuing education opportunities to enhance business development skills.
• Create brand awareness at community, charitable and civic events and become the bank ambassador in leadership roles.
• Embrace new technology and remain up to date on industry changes to create an open environment that fosters idea generation and innovation.
• Exhibits good listening skills and speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• College degree in a financial related discipline preferred.
• 6-8 years in business development and/or financial services experience required.
• Proficient in all small business lending products and maintain an active NMLS registration status.
• Working Business Acumen and Financial Literacy in Retail Banking.
• Demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• PC Proficiency in Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, and Smartphone devices as well as Microsoft Office Suite software.
• Currently established within the community, where reputation and followership is in place.
• Formal credit training or certification preferred.
