As we continue to grow, Westfalia is looking to hire a Equipment Rebuild Specialist to join our team. The Equipment Rebuild Specialist is responsible for rebuilding, refurbishing, repairing, and upgrading customer satellite equipment and related components to OEM specifications in Westfalia’s York, PA shop facility. This role supports the timely delivery of high-quality satellite rebuilds by performing mechanical assembly and repair work, interpreting technical documentation, maintaining inventory and shop materials, and supporting continuous improvement of Westfalia satellite technology.
Location Requirements: Must live within a 50-mile radius of Westfalia Technologies Inc Headquarters and within PA or MD.
Job Functions:
- Inspect, assess, disassemble, clean, repair, replace, assemble, and adjust satellites and related components to support high-quality refurbishments, upgrades, repairs, and potential new builds.
- Read and follow blueprints, schematics, work instructions, SOPs, and checklists to complete rebuild and repair activities accurately and efficiently.
- Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure rebuilt equipment meets established standards and OEM specifications.
- Operate shop equipment and tools, including hand, power, and pneumatic tools, as well as machinery such as drill presses, punch presses, and saws, in a safe and effective manner.
- Operate overhead cranes, lift trucks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment to move satellite shop materials and equipment in an orderly and safe manner.
- Maintain adequate inventory of satellite shop materials and supplies and coordinate replenishment as needed to support shop operations.
- Complete required computer-based tasks to track materials, repairs, inventory, and other work activity.
- Support shipment preparation of satellite shop items using proper packing methods and materials.
- Provide feedback, technical insight, testing support, prototyping assistance, and improvement ideas to support the ongoing development of Westfalia AS/RS and APS satellite technology.
- Support other Aftermarket shop activities during periods of lower rebuild volume, including material repairs, shipping/receiving, inventory support, and training of new or temporary employees as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of technical components, machinery, and automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and assemble electro-mechanical equipment with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and shop equipment.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate material handling equipment, including overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to enter and track work-related information electronically.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members, leadership, and internal partners.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of experience in machine assembly, equipment repair, rebuild work, or a related mechanical/electro-mechanical position required.
- Experience working with technical components and automation equipment required.
- Ability to operate an overhead crane up to 15 tons required.
- Fork truck license or the ability to obtain one required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical diploma, associate degree, or other formal training in electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical equipment, automation systems, and related manufacturing or OEM repair practices.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics or another ERP system.
- Hands-on experience administering orders, materials, or work processes in a manufacturing or OEM environment.
- Experience supporting equipment testing, prototyping, or product improvement initiatives.
- Spanish or German language skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and perform hands-on mechanical work throughout the workday.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull shop materials, tools, and equipment; must be able to lift typical shop loads safely.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Ability to work in and around equipment, use ladders or platforms if needed, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work safely in a shop environment.
Travel Requirements: Up to 10% travel, including occasional travel to customer sites or other locations as needed.
Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
