Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a SATCOM Sustainment Support Specialist to support our CASG Space Branch client. Canberra is the preferred location, with other locations considered for the right candidate.
What You’ll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
- Review, develop and update integrated logistics support, technical, engineering, safety, configuration and disposal artefacts.
- Support SATCOM fleet sustainment activities, including inventory management, procurement, repairs, stocktakes, obsolescence, codification, cataloguing and disposals.
- Maintain accurate logistics, configuration and equipment records using Defence systems, including MILIS and CMT-L, and review Engineering Change Proposals and supporting ILS documentation.
- Support the transition of SATCOM capabilities from acquisition into sustainment and operational service, including certification, validation, asset and data handover, support contracts and project closure.
- Provide specialist technical and governance advice, maintain task schedules and progress reports, and deliver mentoring and workshops to SATCOM personnel.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in integrated logistics, engineering, configuration management, systems engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated Defence logistics, sustainment, engineering or capability-management experience, including support to Defence equipment fleets and acquisition-to-sustainment transition activities.
- Strong working knowledge of Defence logistics systems, particularly MILIS; experience with CMT-L, codification and cataloguing will be highly regarded.
- Experience developing, reviewing or updating ILS and technical documentation, such as ILS Instructions, Engineering Change Proposals, EMEIs, user handbooks, configuration records and safety artefacts.
- The ability to work independently, provide specialist advice and collaborate effectively with sustainment, acquisition, engineering, logistics and procurement stakeholders. Defence SATCOM experience is desirable.
Due to the nature of the work, the successful applicant must be an Australian citizen and hold and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance, as required by the Commonwealth. In some cases, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may also be required.
