SATCOM Engineer V - Supporting PM C2 Transport

Clearance: DoD Secret minimum

Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

Salary: 120K-160K Annual; Commensurate with experience and education

Education: BS is Engineering, testing or related field

Minimum years of experience: 10 years of SATCOM engineering

Overview:

Provide in-depth technical assessments and analysis of activities within and between programs. Support the design of system architectures, terminals, waveforms and access protocols. Support analysis of system performance, throughput and response time, analysis of operational requirements and system loading. Conduct systems engineering evaluations of satellite and terminal designs. Participate in proposal and technical evaluations for satellite systems. Support design reviews and perform evaluation of satellite and terminal contractor designs.

Demonstrate the ability to translate complex technical issues into meaningful terms for others involved. Effectively coordinate within and outside of PM TN, to include such organizations such as Program Executive Office for Command and Control Information Network (CPE C2IN), Army Capabilities Manager (ACM), Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), industry vendors and other Army stakeholders (e.g. Army Strategic Command (ARSTRAT)). Serve as subject matter experts in all aspects of transmission, to include modulation and coding, link budgets, radio frequency equipment, antennas, waveforms, blockage mitigation and other algorithms/protocols.

Serve as Subject Matter Expert and brings knowledge of systems engineering methods and processes in order to perform SATCOM system analysis and evaluations for both commercial and military systems. Demonstrate knowledge of Military Standards (MIL-STDs) and certification processes. Demonstrate familiarity of customer/vendor product development, business proposals, marketing interaction, product design and manufacturing processes.

Skills Required

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Minimum 10 years of SATCOM engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, testing, or related field
  • Expertise in modulation and coding
  • Experience performing link budget analysis
  • Knowledge of RF equipment and antenna systems
  • Experience with waveforms, access protocols, and blockage mitigation
  • Systems engineering methods and SATCOM system analysis experience
  • Familiarity with Military Standards (MIL-STDs) and certification processes
