We are seeking an SAP Software Engineer who is responsible for the design, development, configuration, integration, and support of complex SAP systems and custom solutions. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality SAP applications that meet evolving business and mission-critical requirements. The engineer also provides Tier 3-level support for escalated technical issues, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and configure custom SAP applications and enhancements across multiple modules (e.g., FI/CO, MM, SD, HCM).
- Integrate SAP with third-party and internal systems, ensuring seamless data flow and system compatibility.
- Provide Tier 3 support for escalated technical issues, ensuring timely analysis, resolution, and documentation of complex problems.
- Collaborate with business analysts, functional leads, project managers, and end-users to gather requirements and translate them into scalable SAP solutions.
- Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, performance tuning, and regression testing activities.
- Optimize and refactor existing ABAP or SAP UI5 code to improve performance, maintainability, and compliance with SAP development standards.
- Work closely with SAP Basis and Security teams to maintain system integrity, access control, and compliance with organizational policies.
- Ensure all development follows SAP best practices, established code standards, and documentation protocols.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and internal training as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field with 4–8 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 2–6 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience in software design, development, testing, and debugging across the software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
- Experience working with Linux-based systems for development and deployment.
- Knowledge of Agile Scrum development practices, including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
- Experience using Atlassian JIRA or equivalent tools for task tracking and team collaboration.
- Familiarity with software testing techniques and troubleshooting/debugging practices.
- Ability to work independently on complex assignments and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native application development.
- Working knowledge of machine learning and/or artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
- Experience developing or supporting embedded systems.
- Familiarity with Docker for containerized application development and deployment.
- Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins.
- Experience in systems integration, including hardware-software compatibility and interfacing with external platforms.
- Exposure to software tools and frameworks used for infrastructure management or platform development.
- Understanding of security best practices and secure coding principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead small teams or mentor junior developers.

Pay Range:Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
