SAP Functional Lead

Position Overview

The SAP Functional Lead will serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the technical SAP team. This role is responsible for leading the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of SAP solutions that align with business processes and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in one or more SAP functional modules and demonstrate strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead/participate in functional design workshops and gather detailed business requirements.
• Translate business needs into SAP system configurations, functional specifications, and process documentation.
• Manage and coordinate cross-functional SAP implementations, enhancements, and rollouts.
• Provide functional guidance to business analysts, developers, and end-users.
• Drive continuous improvement and optimization of SAP processes in collaboration with business stakeholders.
• Oversee testing cycles, including integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure solutions meet performance and scalability requirements.
• Manage SAP change requests, ensure proper impact analysis, and support the change control process.
• Support system upgrades, migrations, and patch applications.
• Mentor and guide junior team members and contribute to building internal SAP capability.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on SAP experience, including at least 3 years in a lead or senior functional consultant role.
• A generalist with expertise in at least one SAP functional module (e.g., FI/CO, SD, MM, PP, PM, WM, or HCM) is preferred.
• Proven experience in SAP S/4HANA environments (implementation or migration).
• Solid understanding of end-to-end business processes and integration points across SAP modules.
• Experience with SAP project methodologies (Activate, ASAP, or Agile frameworks).
• Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic business environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or SAP certification in relevant modules (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate).
• Experience leading global SAP implementations or multi-country rollouts.
• Exposure to SAP Fiori, BTP, or integration tools (CPI, PI/PO).
• Experience collaborating with offshore and cross-functional teams.
