The SAP & EDI Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as the primary resource for SAP transaction management, EDI integration, and business process support across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, and Customer Operations. This role ensures reliable system performance, drives process improvements, supports integration with external partners, and helps scale operations through effective technology solutions.
What will you do?
SAP Business Process Support
Serve as the primary SME for SAP processes supporting Materials, Planning, Procurement, Warehousing, Logistics, and Manufacturing.
Support and optimize SAP modules including MM, PP, SD, and WM/EWM.
Analyze business requirements and recommend SAP solutions.
Lead system enhancements, process improvements, and data integrity initiatives.
Partner with stakeholders to improve operational efficiency and transaction execution.
EDI Integration & Support
Own end-to-end EDI processes between SAP and customers, suppliers, logistics providers, and contract manufacturers.
Support and troubleshoot EDI transactions, including:
850 Purchase Orders
855 PO Acknowledgments
856 Advance Ship Notices (ASN)
810 Invoices
846 Inventory Reports
940/945 Warehouse Transactions
Monitor transaction performance and resolve EDI issues.
Coordinate with internal IT teams, third-party providers, and external business partners to maintain integration stability.
Operational Excellence
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for SAP and EDI-related issues.
Develop KPIs and reporting for transaction health, system performance, and process compliance.
Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
Support production ramps, new product introductions, and business expansion activities.
How will you get here?
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
5+ years of SAP functional experience in a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
3+ years of EDI integration and support experience.
Experience supporting cross-functional teams and business processes.
Experience with process improvement and system enhancement initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong knowledge of SAP MM, PP, SD, and inventory management processes.
Knowledge of EDI standards, including ANSI X12 and EDIFACT.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
SAP S/4HANA experience.
Experience with Seeburger, OpenText, SPS Commerce, IBM Sterling, or similar EDI platforms.
APICS/ASCM, CSCP, CPIM, or SAP certification.
Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher.
