DESCRIPTION:
Join us at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Systems Administrator II! In this role, you'll contribute to maintaining and optimizing our enterprise systems and infrastructure. You'll ensure system reliability, implement security measures, and support our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. Working with advanced technologies including enterprise applications like SAP S/4HANA, SAP ERP 6.0, Cloud platforms and virtualization, you'll collaborate with teams to deliver excellent technical solutions and support.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced Degree, Bachelor's Degree plus 4+ years of experience in enterprise systems administration and infrastructure support.
- Preferred Fields of Study: Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field
- Advanced technical certifications preferred (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware, MCSE, SAP)
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure and Google Cloud)
- Experience with backup systems, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
- Experience with ITSM tools like ServiceNow for incident and change management
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for working with diverse teams
- Available for rotating on-call and emergency support as needed
- GxP/FDA regulated environment experience preferred
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA, SolMan, GRC, SLT etc.).
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and performance tuning to ensure efficient operation.
- Fixing: Identify and resolve technical issues related to SAP systems and databases.
- System Upgrades and Patches: Plan and implement system upgrades, patches, and progress packs.
- Backup and Recovery: Implement and lead backup and recovery strategies for SAP systems.
- Security: Improve SAP system security through the implementation of standard methodologies and regular audits.
- Transport Management: Handle SAP transport requests and ensure smooth deployment of changes.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with functional teams, developers, and other IT staff to support SAP operations and projects.
- Staying in sync: Confirm that SAP systems stay in sync with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Experience:
Consistent track record in SAP Basis administration.
Experience with S/4HANA, SAP ERP 6.0, SAP HANA, SAP Solution Manager, SAP SLT and other SAP products.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SAP Basis administration tasks.
- Knowledge of SAP architecture and infrastructure.
- Experience with SAP system installations, upgrades, and migrations.
- Familiarity with database administration (HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
- Understanding of network and operating system concepts.
- Proficiency in system monitoring and performance tuning.
- Experience with backup and recovery procedures.
- Knowledge of SAP security concepts and user management.
This role is vital for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of SAP systems within the organization. The SAP Basis Support Member plays a crucial role in maintaining business continuity and supporting the organization's SAP landscape.
