About the role:
We’re looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Developer with strong UK Payroll expertise to join our dynamic SAP team. In this role, you’ll develop and deliver essential payroll enhancements and annual UK legislative updates that keep our customers compliant and future-ready. You’ll also work on a mix of support, consulting, and enhancement projects across the SAP HCM landscape.

What you’ll be doing:
As our SAP ABAP Developer, you will be:
- Develop, implement, and maintain ABAP programs, reports, enhancements, interfaces, and forms for UK Payroll
- Provide L2/L3 support for UK Payroll issues, including incident resolution and change requests
- Partner with functional consultants to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise existing UK Payroll custom developments
- Ensure all developments comply with UK payroll rules, statutory updates, and audit requirements
- Participate in customer calls, share progress updates, and ensure prompt delivery of tasks
- Maintain clear documentation for technical designs, developments, and transports
- Monitor scheduled jobs, payroll processes, and related integrations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technical and payroll support.
What we’re looking for:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- 10+ years of experience as an SAP ABAP Developer
- Strong, hands-on expertise in UK Payroll processes, schemas, rules, and wage types
- Solid knowledge of ABAP development tools, including:
- Reports
- BAPIs, BADIs, User Exits
- Enhancements Framework
- Interfaces (IDocs, RFCs)
- SmartForms / Adobe Forms
- Experience supporting SAP HR/HCM modules, especially UK Payroll
- Good understanding of time management, payroll cycles, RT tables, and payroll debugging
- Ability to translate functional specifications into effective technical solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset
- Excellent communication skills for working with UK/EU clients.
