Salesforce Technical Lead
Overview: Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Salesforce Technical Lead with mandatory hands-on expertise in Salesforce Commerce Cloud for B2B ecommerce and proven experience building custom websites using Salesforce Experience Cloud. In this role, you will own the technical direction for enterprise B2B ecommerce storefronts and customer-facing digital experiences on the Salesforce platform, leading solution design, development, integration, performance optimization, and delivery across commerce capabilities such as catalogs, pricing, buyer groups, cart, checkout, account management, order workflows, and self-service experiences. You will partner with Product Owners, Technical Architects, UI/UX Leads, and onshore/offshore engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, maintainable commerce and Experience Cloud solutions while mentoring developers and enforcing Salesforce engineering best practices.
Responsibilities:
Lead the technical design, development, and delivery of scalable Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2B ecommerce solutions and Experience Cloud-based customer portals.
Build and customize Salesforce Experience Cloud websites, storefronts, portals, and self-service experiences using Experience Builder, custom themes, page templates, branding, navigation, and reusable components.
Own solution architecture for B2B commerce capabilities, including product catalogs, pricing, buyer groups, entitlements, cart, checkout, account management, order workflows, and personalized buyer experiences.
Develop and customize commerce and Experience Cloud experiences using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Lightning Web Runtime (LWR), Flow, SOQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SLDS, and Experience Builder.
Integrate Salesforce Commerce Cloud with ERP, payment, tax, search, shipping, inventory, product information, and order management systems using REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, middleware, and event-driven architecture.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Technical Architects, UI/UX Leads, Delivery Leads, QA, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into well-architected commerce and Experience Cloud solutions.
Provide technical leadership to onshore and offshore developers through design reviews, code reviews, estimation, troubleshooting, coaching, and delivery planning.
Establish and enforce Salesforce development standards for code quality, security, performance, governor-limit awareness, accessibility, release readiness, and platform governance.
Analyze existing commerce and Experience Cloud implementations and optimize performance, scalability, usability, accessibility, and maintainability across storefront, portal, and backend components.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, integration specifications, data models, deployment notes, website configuration details, and operational support guides.
Stay current with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, B2B Commerce, Experience Cloud, Experience Builder, LWR, and platform release updates, recommending improvements that reduce technical debt and improve customer experience.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience, including experience leading technical delivery for enterprise Salesforce implementations.
Must have hands-on experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud for B2B ecommerce, including storefront configuration, catalog, pricing, cart, checkout, buyer groups, entitlements, and order-related workflows.
Must have proven experience building custom websites, portals, and self-service experiences using Salesforce Experience Cloud, including Experience Builder, custom themes, templates, branding, navigation, and reusable components.
Strong expertise in Salesforce B2B Commerce on Lightning Experience, Experience Cloud, Lightning Web Runtime (LWR), and Commerce storefront development.
Proven experience designing and implementing B2B ecommerce capabilities such as catalogs, price books, buyer groups, entitlements, cart, checkout, reorder, account hierarchy, purchase workflows, and order management integrations.
Advanced proficiency with Apex, LWC, Flow, SOQL, SOSL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SLDS, Salesforce data models, security, sharing, and governor limits.
Experience integrating Salesforce with enterprise systems such as ERP, PIM, OMS, tax, payment, shipping, inventory, search, identity providers, and middleware platforms using REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, JSON/XML, and event-driven patterns.
Demonstrated ability to lead developers, run technical design discussions, perform code reviews, estimate work, resolve escalated issues, and guide onshore/offshore teams in Agile delivery.
Strong understanding of scalable architecture, reusable component design, website performance tuning, accessibility, secure coding practices, release management, and Salesforce DevOps.
Proficiency with version control and CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Azure Repos, Salesforce DX, Azure Pipelines, or equivalent DevOps tooling.
Experience with Agile/Scrum practices and tools such as Azure Boards or Jira.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.
Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer I/II, Salesforce B2B Commerce Developer, Experience Cloud Consultant, Application Architect, or System Architect are highly preferred.
