What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health
Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.
Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.
Responsibilities
- Design scalable, maintainable Salesforce solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Anticipate, plan and deliver IT solutions that support enterprise strategic goals and enable increased business value
- Provide technical leadership on Sales Cloud and Service Cloud implementation.
- Ensure solutions are optimized for performance, scalability, and security.
- Design and implement integrations using:
- REST/SOAP APIs
- Middleware tools (e.g., IIB, MuleSoft, Boomi, APIGEE and Attunity)
- Works with Enterprise Architects, Solution and product owners to develop detailed technical design/solutions.
- Experience in both Build and Run projects is required.
- Demonstrate functional integration with business users documenting requirements, functional specifications, functional/regression/UAT testing.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team that consists of onshore/offshore resources, including both contractors and FTE’s
- Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharing sessions.
- Drive adoption of best practices, reusable frameworks, and standards.
Qualifications
- 4-8 years of Salesforce development/engineering experience, preferred
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Sales Cloud (Opportunities, Leads, Forecasting, Sales Processes)
- Service Cloud (Cases Management)
- Proficiency in Salesforce technologies:
- Apex (triggers, classes, batch, queueable)
- Lightning Web Components (LWC)
- SOQL/SOSL
- Flow Builder (record-triggered, screen flows, orchestration)
- Experience designing custom Salesforce solutions using declarative and programmatic approaches.
- Strong experience with:
- Data modeling (objects, relationships, schema design)
- Security model (profiles, roles, permission sets, sharing rules)
- Experience integrating Salesforce with external systems:
- REST/SOAP APIs
- Middleware tools (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi) preferred
- Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools (e.g., Git, Copado, Gearset, Jenkins)
- Experience with deployment strategies (Change Sets, SFDX, packaging)
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills
