Summary
Our Sales Trainee position is designed to familiarize the employee with corrugated manufacturing to better prepare the employee for entering Sales. Exposure to the business will include, but is not limited to: Design, Testing, Customer Service, Scheduling, Quality, Waste, Corrugator, Converting, Shipping and Sales. Active participation and skills practice during and after the training period are critical to a successful transition into Sales.
Sales Trainee Duties and Responsibilities
• Possess good project management skills driving commercialization and other opportunities against business strategies
• Self-starter and proactive in challenging technical assumptions and current business practices
• Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills with the mindset of continuous improvement techniques (such as Lean, Six Sigma, etc.), showing thorough understanding of the interactions between process operations, ingredients, methods, environment and people to provide robust operating systems
• Work closely with all departments on a rotation to share workload and will be fully immersed in as many job functions as necessary. The objective is to learn interactively through contribution.
• Demonstrate technical and business expertise for our packaging systems offering strategic direction for existing and new packaging solutions and technologies
Education and Experience Requirements
• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience in a Sales function or related coursework or experience in corrugated/packaging industry is preferred
Preferred background to include:
• Production experience
• Knowledge of quality standards
• Design knowledge
• Interaction with customer
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales reports, operating instructions, and training and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate clearly and effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, costs, proportions, percentages, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear, stand, and sit. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Able to move materials on pallets at Pratt and VMI location and stock stations with said materials.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
In addition, the employee frequently drives to and from customers and prospects and may experience hazardous driving conditions.
