As a senior sales specialist, to prepare proposals/bids, contract negotiation and compliance with contract commitments and commercial risk assessment.  

The Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) works within Commercial Operations Team. The CAE manages and negotiates technical risk within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) process. The CAE is responsible for the technical content, technical cost and technical risk mitigation of customer Request for Quotations. The CAE’s principal work activities relate to the Qualifying decision to project hand-off phase to execution.

CAE use their knowledge of Bently Nevada applications, together with project and service experience and deep P&L product domain knowledge to develop product and installation solutions to meet customer needsThis including schedule and cost that facilitate total scope project offerings.

As a Sales Specialist - Proposals, you will be responsible for:

  • Support Sales by reviewing and influencing customer specifications to assure compliance and/or noted exceptions for development of equipment and service quotations 

  • Develop hardware and service proposal solutions to provide the most costs effective, technically appropriate solution to meet customer need 

  • To find the fastest possible options for Sales / customers and develop proposal with competitive pricing and delivery 

  • Familiar with commercial and contractual risk within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) process 

  • Understand the of Commercial process / stages and tools to ensure appropriate bid compliance and risk mitigation prior to release of a proposal to a customer. 

  • Coordinate/respond to vendor prequalification documents 

  • Accept ownership of bid opportunities from Sales via Deal Machine. 

  • On occasion, support technical presentations to customers 

  • Maintain strong industry intelligence to inform business decision-making. 

  • Communicate individual customer requirements for Sales Manager in regards to design and quotation 

  • Communicate requirements for order fulfillment to OTR project operations teams 

  • Contribute to regional sales, orders, profitability, and ITO KPI and quality goals 

  • Document competitors’ activities and assess potential market moves 

  • Use technical expertise to support other functions where appropriate 

To Be Successful in This Role You Will:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Sales). 

  • Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Proposals. 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. 

  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams. Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously. 

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills. Proven analytical and organizational ability.
