The Sales Specialist - Histology Instruments for Leica Biosystems is responsible for driving territory revenue growth, market share expansion, and instrument placements across the assigned geography. This role develops and executes territory strategies that create new business opportunities, strengthen customer partnerships, and advance adoption of Leica Biosystems' Core Histology portfolio. The Sales Specialist partners closely with Sales, Service, and Applications teams to deliver customer solutions, support workflow optimization, and achieve commercial performance objectives.
You will be part of the Commercial Organization, working remotely within the assigned territory, and report to the Sales Manager, Core Histology. You will be responsible for driving instrument placements, workflow conversions, competitive wins, and territory growth across Leica Biosystems' Core Histology portfolio. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Drive territory revenue growth, market share expansion, and instrument placements by developing and executing strategic territory and account plans that accelerate customer adoption of Leica Biosystems Core Histology solutions.
- Achieve annual sales objectives through disciplined funnel management, accurate forecasting, opportunity development, and consistent utilization of Salesforce.com to manage customer engagement and business performance.
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing customers while identifying opportunities to expand Leica Biosystems' presence through workflow modernization, instrument replacement, and competitive conversions.
- Partner with Applications, Service, and Commercial teams to coordinate demonstrations, evaluations, installations, and customer onboarding activities that support successful instrument adoption and customer satisfaction.
- Leverage competitive intelligence, strategic selling tools, and deep product knowledge to differentiate Leica Biosystems solutions, advance opportunities, and improve win rates across the territory.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant sales experience or Master's Degree with 3+ years of experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage a sales territory, develop customer relationships, and drive opportunity progression to successful business outcomes.
- Experience with strategic selling, contract negotiation, capital equipment sales, or selling within complex and matrixed customer environments.
- Strong organizational, territory planning, and time management skills.
- Experience utilizing Salesforce.com or similar CRM platforms to manage forecasting, pipeline health, account planning, and business performance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Travel and Motor Vehicle Record Requirements:
- Ability to travel 50-75% overnight for territory coverage and/or for company meetings.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Prior capital equipment sales experience.
- Histology, pathology, laboratory workflow, diagnostics, or healthcare industry experience.
- Experience selling laboratory instrumentation, workflow automation solutions, or related healthcare technologies.

The annual salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000. This role is also eligible for Sales Incentive Compensation (SIC). The total target compensation at plan (base + SIC) is $160,000 – $170,000 annually. Actual SIC earnings may exceed or fall below the target based on individual sales performance. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
