Job summary
Responsible for sales of Maharam products, and associated brands, to a specific client roster and geography.
Essential functions
- Develop and maintain close relationships across a wide spectrum of clients, both on an individual and corporate level to ensure “first look” consideration for project and specification inclusion.
- Educate and sell clients the full Maharam product collection through presentations, entertainment and project development.
- Follow the established selling process defined by Maharam, which includes utilizing various tools to help manage and develop future opportunities.
- Maintain a client database, including all project opportunities.
- Consult and manage product and project development with specifying clients, end-users and buying customers.
- Provide product information, both aesthetic and functional, and develop pricing strategies based on project needs.
- Maintain all Maharam products in a client’s resource library on a regular and ongoing basis.
- Partner with and guide inside sales support of a Sales Support.
Reporting
- This position reports to the local Maharam Sales Manager.
Contacts inside and outside the organization
This position has contact with specifying clients, purchasing customers, and end-users. This position has contact with Herman Miller APAC as well as Maharam’s US Corporate departments including: resource management, sample department, QA, credit, and key client services; sales management, and local sales reps and sales coordinators in other offices as needed for project follow-up.
Knowledge and skills
- Ability to connect with people via both one-on-one and group interaction. Social and engaging.
- Comfortable entertaining clients away from their place of work.
- Articulate and effective communicator. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle problem resolution smartly and with confidence; such as price, delivery, OA, or installation problems.
- Organized and able to multi task and retain and understand high level of product, project, client, and process information.
- Desire to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work to Maharam protocol and process while respecting Herman Miller work ethics and its local protocole, without direct supervision.
- Computer savvy with working knowledge of MS Office including outlook, and Word; and ability to learn DON and various Maharam and Herman miller specific computer functions.
Education and experience
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, degree in Interior Design is preferred.
- 4-5 years of sales experience
Langurage
Native Japanese. Must be fluent in English.
