A Day in the Life

The Sales Representative is responsible for promoting and selling Medtronic’s products and services within an assigned geographic territory and/or customer accounts. This role focuses on achieving or exceeding sales targets by building strong, long-term relationships with healthcare professionals, distributors, and other key stakeholders. The position operates with a high level of autonomy, manages multiple small to mid-size accounts, and contributes directly to the achievement of departmental and organizational sales objectives.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Promotes and sells Medtronic's products and services within an assigned geographic area and /or specific customer accounts to meet or exceed sales targets.

  • Responsible for developing, building, and strengthening long-term relationships with stakeholders including distributors and healthcare professionals.

  • Responsible for pursuing leads, assessing needs and providing product services to maximize the benefits derived from Medtronic's products and/or services.

  • Promotes and establishes education of the company's products and/or services.

  • Conducts market research including customers and competitors activities.

  • Implements market development plans/strategies and changes as needed.

  • Communicates customer feedback on new products and/or modifications to existing products or applications to internal stakeholders including R&D, Operations and Marketing.

Required Knowledge and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

  • Relevant experience includes sales, clinical, or related roles within medical devices, medtech, healthcare, or life sciences.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple small to mid-size accounts independently with general supervision.

  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and expanding existing accounts.

  • Ability to understand market dynamics, pricing structures, and competitive landscapes.

  • Experience recommending adjustments to sales strategies or account tactics to improve outcomes.

  • Effective collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, and operations.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment within defined procedures and practices.

  • Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory as required.
