The Role
Position Title: Sales Representative Foodservice NSW
Position Type: Regular - Full-Time
Requisition ID: 40342
In every role, McCainers are ambitious, curious, and passionate about creating exceptional work experiences - together. With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy.
About the role.
We are looking for a Foodservice Sales Representative to help us shape the future of foodservice across key regions in NSW, covering territory from the Central Coast up to the Mid North Coast (including Newcastle, Hunter Valley, and Grafton, just short of the QLD border). This territory-driven, field-based role is ideal for a self-starter with a passion for helping small and medium-sized businesses thrive in a dynamic, competitive market.
You'll spend Monday to Thursday on the road building relationships, finding new opportunities, and supporting existing customers. Travel includes regular visits to regional areas, with the expectation of being away from home for 3-4 days once every 4-6 weeks. Sydney is your office base, with a requirement to attend team meetings approximately once a fortnight to once a month, depending on travel schedules and your location.
This position offers autonomy, variety, and the chance to make a real impact for both your customers and McCain. The NSW market is highly competitive and evolving rapidly, so we seek someone who is resilient, relationship-driven, and quick to adapt.
What you'll be doing.
  • Build strong business relationships with distributors and end-users in your territory (Central Coast through to the Mid North Coast).
  • Generate new business, acquire new accounts, and expand McCain's product range through regular sales visits, presentations, and on-site "cook-ups."
  • Take full ownership of your territory - quickly establishing trust, responding to changing market conditions, and overcoming challenges with tenacity and a solutions-driven approach.
  • Plan your activities and visits to maximize territory potential Monday to Thursday; participate in collaborative planning and teamwork in Sydney at specified intervals .
  • Manage call cycle planning, maintain up-to-date customer records, and ensure sales and opportunity reporting meets business requirements.
  • Introduce new SKUs and ensure product pull-through with distributors and key end-users.
  • Accurately forecast business outcomes, proactively identify issues, and report results to management.
  • Champion McCain's values of collaboration, innovation, and customer-first service at all times.
  • Mentor and support new team members when required.
  • Strictly adhere to McCain's corporate policies and code of practice.

What you'll need to be successful.
  • Prior experience in foodservice sales is highly regarded but not essential; willingness to learn about the foodservice market is key.
  • Proven ability to cope with challenging, competitive markets - resilient, proactive, and unafraid of hard work.
  • Demonstrated success in building trust-based business relationships quickly.
  • Experience in FMCG or understanding of what it's like to work for a large FMCG business is highly valued.
  • Self-starter attitude: ability to work autonomously, plan effectively, and own your territory.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Previous use of Salesforce (CRM) considered highly beneficial.
  • Ability to travel regularly in the territory and to regional areas as needed.
  • Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Willingness to attend the Sydney office as required (once a fortnight to once a month).

About the team.
You'll be joining a well-established, close-knit NSW sales team comprised of four experienced sales representatives, two dedicated business development managers, a distributor manager, and the Foodservice Field Sales Manager. The team is known for open communication, collaborative planning, and mutual support, with a strong focus on delivering results through innovation and hard work. Regular team meetings at the Sydney office provide valuable opportunities to share successes, strategize, and strengthen camaraderie. At McCain, you'll be empowered to shape your role while being supported by colleagues who are passionate about growth, partnership, and making a positive impact within the foodservice industry.
