This position reports to:
Product Line Manager, HPR__
Your Role: Own the Challenge
Are you a technical sales professional passionate about power electronics and industrial applications?
ABB is looking for an Account Manager to join our Metals and Power Conversion team within the Automation – Process Industry Division, supporting customers across the United States.
In this role, you will manage and grow a portfolio of strategic accounts, leading the commercialization of High-Power Rectifier (HPR) Systems, Electrification and Automation packages, and upgrade solutions across your region. You will be the primary point of contact for your customers — building trusted, long-term relationships while delivering tailored technical and commercial proposals that create real value for both the customer and ABB.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management responsibility, with a remote work arrangement based in one of the following states: TN, TX, LA, AL, AR, or MS.
What you will do:
- Lead the end-to-end commercialization of HPR systems, products, and services — driving revenue, volume, and profitability targets across your region.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans, building executive-level relationships that support long-term customer partnership and growth.
- Own the full sales cycle — from identifying opportunities and understanding customer needs, to preparing proposals, negotiating terms, and closing deals.
- Configure HPR systems to customer requirements and collaborate with engineering and supply chain to deliver competitive, technically sound proposals.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in your territory, representing ABB at trade shows and industry events.
- Coordinate across engineering, HSE, contract management, logistics, and key suppliers to ensure seamless proposal delivery and project handoff.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with focus on power electronics, power converters, or power systems.
- 5+ years in an industrial environment, including at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Power Converters and Electrical Distribution systems.
- Strong communication skills in English, with confidence presenting to customer executives, ABB leadership, and industry audiences.
- Availability to travel up to 50% within the United States and Canada.
Nice to have:
- Experience with High Power Rectifier systems and/or Variable Frequency Drives.
- Knowledge of or existing relationships in industries such as Base Chemicals, Copper/Zinc refining, Aluminum, Steel, or Graphite.
- Background in sales engineering, proposal preparation, or contract and risk management.
Who you are:
- You're a resilient, solutions-oriented professional who genuinely enjoys building lasting customer relationships and solving complex technical challenges. You're comfortable navigating long sales cycles, multiple stakeholders, and iterative proposal processes — and you take pride in being the person your customers can always count on. You're as confident in a technical conversation with an engineer as you are presenting to a senior executive.
What's in it for you
We want you to bring your full self to work—your ideas, your energy, your ambition. You’ll have the tools and freedom to grow your skills, shape your path, and take on challenges that matter. Here, your work creates impact you can see and feel, every day.
