We are looking for a driven and commercially minded

Sales Manager

to join our Sales organization in Metsä Board Americas. In this role, you will play a key part in driving profitable growth by developing new business with converter customers across the United States. You will report to the Sales Director, FBB North America.

What will you get to do?

As Sales Manager, you will focus on identifying and winning new business opportunities, building a strong pipeline, and expanding Metsä Board’s presence within targeted converter accounts. You will be responsible for turning market opportunities into profitable sales in line with Metsä Board Americas’ strategy.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively identifying, targeting, and winning new converter customers and new business opportunities within assigned territories and market segments across the United States
  • Building and managing a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities through disciplined prospecting, outreach, follow-up, and account penetration activities
  • Developing strategic account plans for target converter customers, including growth objectives, call plans, trial plans, and competitive conversion strategies
  • Driving conversion opportunities from initial contact through qualification, trial, negotiation, and close, in collaboration with technical, sustainability, supply chain, and marketing teams as needed
  • Conducting regular in-person and virtual customer meetings to understand customer needs, position Metsä Board’s value proposition, and create momentum around new opportunities
  • Taking ownership of CRM discipline by documenting activity, managing contacts and opportunities, tracking pipeline progress, and maintaining accurate forecasts
  • Providing clear forecasting on pipeline, new business development, account growth, and risks and opportunities to Sales Management and relevant internal stakeholders
  • Coordinating internal resources to support trials, commercial proposals, customer development plans, and the successful onboarding of new business
  • Supporting commercial execution with customers, including pricing discussions, deal structure, service expectations, and growth commitments under the direction of the Sales Director
  • Maintaining strong alignment with Sales Managers, Directors, and VP Sales to ensure focus on priority converter accounts, targeted segments, and strategic growth initiatives
  • Following Metsä Group policies and procedures, including local Metsä Board Americas company procedures

What are we expecting from you?

  • Proven success in a hunter-style sales role, with a strong track record of prospecting, developing pipeline, and winning new business
  • Experience in selling to converter customers, packaging customers, or related paperboard and packaging markets is strongly preferred
  • Strong commercial skills, including opportunity qualification, value-based selling, negotiation, and closing
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills
  • A bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with Sales Management and cross-functional teams
  • A self-starting approach, high energy, resilience, adaptability, and a results-driven mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and confidence in working with CRM tools
  • Readiness to travel, with the role expectation being 50–75%
