In December 2022, Fidelity International been granted the Permit to Conduct Securities and Futures business in China by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC). With the approval, Fidelity International will be able to commence a wholly-owned mutual fund business in China and serve a wider group of investors in the country with a consistent approach as we operate in every market in the world.

About your role
 

This role will be primarily responsible for supporting the China onshore institutional business development and client engagement activities across different client segments. The person will be closely working with the Head of China Institutional Sales to implement China growth strategies, and to engage with other regional institutional sales, client servicing and global investment teams in order to deliver FIL’s full value proposition to our clients and prospects.

About you

Your major responsibilities are:

Business Development and Relationship Management

  • To develop and maintain relationship with key financial institutions particularly with banks. Independently manage client relationship and structure deals incorporating needs from multiple institutions. To bring back market insights and product trends to internal teams and facilitate customized fund/strategy development with various teams.
  • To work closely with other members from the institutional sales team as well as the broader China sales team to connect and manage relationship throughout the clients/prospect’s organization hierarchy.
  • To represent Fidelity’s investment philosophy & process and capabilities at client meetings, external functions & seminars, coordinate investment thought leadership initiatives and client events preparations.
  • To support sales meetings, final presentation & due diligence meetings.

Corporate Governance

  • Demonstrate strong control environment and compliance with local and global regulations together with internal oversight rules and regulations for institutional operations.

Global Connectivity

  • Understand the complexities of Fidelity’s global structure. Maintain the principles and philosophy of Fidelity’s corporate culture. Possess the acumen to identify, acknowledge, and effectively communicate with all appropriate entities within Fidelity.
  • Work with regional institutional business and other global teams on global initiatives, projects engagement, marketing, products, business development, consideration and implementation of new technology / structures / procedures etc.
  • Develop a full understanding of FIL’s product capabilities and strong relationships based on mutual trust with various products and investment groups in order to fully leverage FIL’s product capability with Chinese clients
  • Work with the relevant teams to ensure that they are aligned to optimal execution covering areas such as clients and consultants

We’re expecting you to be:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree with a strong commercial business background
  • Basic English is required, both spoken and written
  • Sound technical knowledge in asset management
  • Good understanding of the China market including client segments, competitor landscapes, regulation environment and market trends of offshore investment
  • Previous experience in an institutional sales roll in the asset management or fund distribution industry preferred (8 years minimum)
  • Demonstrate strong mind of teamwork, willingness to take ownership and drive for results
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills in both written and spoken Mandarin and English
  • Self-driven and able to work independently under pressure
  • Travelling may be required
